By I wake up to all my siblings at my bed. "Happy birthday Ali!!!" They yell. As soon as I register what's happening they all jumped onto my bed and I got like a bunch of hugs. "Aw thanks guys," I say very uncomfortably. "You can get up now," I say. "No way this has to make up for about 9 years," Rina says. "Marina Valentina, Delilah Marie, Javier Felipe, get off of me!!!" I yell playfully shoving them. When they finally go downstairs I take my time getting ready and brace myself for Liz and Kyle, but surprisingly when I get downstairs they're already gone. I see a note on the counter. "Have to work on the house, get yourself food we won't be back until late." The note read. I sigh and turn to Lilah. "Are you hiding something?" I ask. She nodded no. I take out a full size bag of potato chips, Lilah's favorite. I wave them in her face, "how about now?" I ask. "Lizzy and Kyle don't know when our birthdays are, they never looked at them in our files," Lilah says. Javi comes downstairs and Rina follows him. "Are you okay, Liyah?" Lilah asked. "Yeah, um hey did mom and dad call?" I ask. I usually get a birthday phone call. "No, but hey they always do," Rina says. "They were in jail it's not like they had anything else," I say. "Ali, it's only 11 chill out," Javi says. "I guess you're right," I say getting breakfast. That's when Maya comes in. "Happy birthday Maya," I say. "Happy birthday Ali," Maya says. We then hug. Maya and I have the same birthday, except I'm a year younger. Ethan was still asleep because that's where he always is on my birthday, he won't be up until later. "Bye," I say to my siblings as Maya and I leave. "So how's our birthday going for you so far?" Maya asked me. "Well Liz and Kyle don't know it's my birthday, and my parents haven't left a single phone call, my siblings are probably the only ones that care," I say. "It's barely 11 o clock yet, we have time," Maya says. "I guess," I say. "Isn't your birthday in your file?" Maya asked. "Yup," I say. "You're telling me that two people who claim they love you to bits can't even look on a dumb piece of paper to find it's your birthday," Maya says. I nodded. "It's okay, I'm used to it, Alice and Eric weren't much better," I say. I soon get a phone call as soon as we get to Riley's. "Omg, it's my parents," I say. "I knew they'd call," Maya says. When we get through the window Riley was talking. "Shut up Riley!!" I say. Maya mouthed her parents. "Hola, Cataleya, happy birthday," Mamá and Papá say. "Hola Mamá, Papi gracias," I say. "¿Como se siente ser catorce, Cataleya?" Mamá asked. "Buena Mamá, aunque los extraño chicos," I answer. I could feel the stares from Maya and Riley. "We love you Cataleya," Papi says. "Love you too Papi," I say. "I have to go, bye Mamá, bye Papá," I say. "Bye Cataleya," they say and then I hang up. "So how's 13 and 14?" Riley asked giving us gifts. I open my box to find another box. "Work, lots of it," I say glaring at Riley. "Because you know I'll be there soon and I need to know what to expect," Riley continues. "Well if you're like me you can expect a phone call from your parents who have been out of prison for ages now, your 3 siblings to be all over you, and your two so called foster parents to not even know it's your birthday," I say. "What?" Riley asked. "They were gone when I got there, and Rina says that they haven't even touched the file with our information to find out our birthdays," I say. "That's messed up," Riley said attempting to leave but Maya and I grab her suspenders. "Must go fix this," Riley says. "Must not get involved," Maya says. "What about you?" Riley asked Maya. "Well not much different, my mom forgot my birthday," Maya says. "Why tell me these things if you don't want me to fix them," Riley asked. "When you're 14 you'll understand," I say. I finally get to the gift. "You're not even 14," Riley points out. I look at the gift and smirked at Maya. "Aw Riley you got us friendship rings," I say. "Why three," Maya asked. "One for each of my hands and one for you," I say. Maya nodded. "No," Riley says. "Oh, an extra incase we lose one," Maya says. I nodded in agreement. "No," Riley says. "Well anyone else would only give us one," I say. Maya and I put on the rings. "And guys the other ring," Riley says. "Is for you," Maya says as I put the ring on Riley's finger. We then go to the kitchen because we were hungry when I see someone. "No way," I say. "Please make this real," Riley says. "Hey kids," Shawn says. "Uncle Shawn!!!" Maya and Riley say. "Shawn!" I say. I'm too scared to call him uncle because I don't wanna get attached. Maya and I run to hug him. "It's their birthday squeeze em good," Riley says. "Wow um happy birthday, doing anything special?" Shawn asked. "This is it," I say. We pull apart. Cory and Topanga attempt to sneak in the apartment with cake. "Hide the cakes before the kids find out," Topanga says. "But you know we should give one cake to Katy incase she forgot and give another cake to Liz and Kyle incase they didn't know," Cory says. I roll my eyes. "Could that really happen?" Topanga asked. "Anything could happen, Shawn's mother forgot where she lived, you know my biggest fear is that forgetting to buy your kid a cake is the first step to forgetting where you live," Cory says. "Not your biggest fear anymore," Topanga says. "Maya and Ali are behind me aren't they?" Cory asked. "How ya doin?" Maya and I say in unison. "Look I'm not turning around because I'm embarrassed but you guys know I love you're parents," Cory says. "Not my parents," I say. "Because at least they're not-" Topanga cut Cory off, "No everything's fine!!!" "Shawn's parents, uh it's Tuesday, I have to run away!!!" Cory says. "Shawn's behind me isn't he?" Cory asked. Topanga nods. "How you doing Shawn?" Cory asked. "Well it ain't Tuesday," Shawn says. "Shawnie!!!" Cory yells flipping the cake in the air which Topanga caught.
