"Thank you for finally coming youngest brother." Yandris sighed, finally facing the other people in the room.
"The pleasure is all mine elder brother, I love being called here so suddenly when my brother's return unannounced." Azin casually said, his voice dripping with hidden sarcasm. I coughed to hide my laugh as Kilgrin scowled deeply. Yandris merely quirked an eyebrow but his face soon regained it's usual bored expression. The king didn't move as Azin stalked toward his throne.
His eye catching on the empty queen's throne, a despair and longing flashing in his eyes. As well as the anger of a thousand armies. The queen's throne had been empty for ten years, as Nikodem saw no woman fit to fill it, with the untimely assassination of Azin and Kilgrin's mother, Queen Vitya. However, the assassination wasn't truly what it seemed in the public's eye. From older *holocording of the late queen, I found that she was a spitfire and outspoken about the king's flaws. With that it was no wonder he ordered the assassination.
"The battles went better than we thought." Kilgrin smirked, so similar to Azin's, but Kilgrin's blood was more his father's.
"Clearly, they did. So, the Roiderin front is ours now?" Azin asked, a challenge flashing in his eyes. They had been pushing that front for the past two years, but the Roidernians were as ruthless and bloodthirsty as the Urians. Yandris and Kilgrin often complained about the front and were tired of fighting out there.
"Watch your tongue little brother of mine." Kilgrin seethed, teeth clenched as he tried to remain in control of his anger, "You're not the one out there fighting for our empire."
"Maybe not brother, but I am the one here cleaning up your political messes." Azin shot back, baring his teeth back at Kilgrin.
"The Roiderin front has seen no changes, we're fighting a stalemate out there. We needed to come back and rally support. With the rebels gaining ground and all." Yandris clarified, leaning over to look around his father at Kilgrin.
"I see, those rebels are causing a lot of civil problems." Azin said, leaning over his chair, of which he hadn't given his family the satisfaction of having him sitting in his throne, next to his perverted older brother. We made brief eye contact as the older princes shifted in their seats, of course we already knew. We were helping them cause the ruckus.
"Whatever they do, they will be found and stopped. No one can out smart, or out run the royal family of Uria. War is in our blood." Kilgrin grinned, looking over to see if his father approved. However, the king was staring at me, never ceasing to chill me. Azin followed his father's gaze, and fury exploded in his brown eyes.
"Kresshtna," the king slowly said before Azin could speak, "you've proved your loyalty to the crown, your service will not go unrewarded." I stiffened and cast a look to Azin, both of us uncomfortable with the sudden change in topics.
"Thank you Your Gracious One, I live only to serve you." I bowed, and kicked Azin in the shin as he started to say something. He closed his mouth and plopped down, lazily and sloppily, onto his small throne.
"I'll allow you to see your family," he started and my heart stopped, Azin sat up, "under the condition that you bring me the plans of the next rebel attack."
