Theodora "Thea" Gilbert is the eldest of the Gilbert household who is now also the only vampire in the family ever since her younger cousin Elena took the cure.

She thought her life before supernatural was a mess with her mother dying when she was only thirteen and her father's death along with Elena's parents just six years later, then in came Damon and Stefan Salvatore and everything went down the drain; vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids. It was all real, the stories that her father used to tell her were real.

But now, many years later, Thea likes to think she has it all; an incredible son, an adorable daughter and a life saving support system disguised in a middle aged man yet she still feels like something or someone is missing.

Then enters the ancient gentleman whose smile could once light a thousand stars but that changed when his younger brother sacrificed himself in order to save his daughter, leaving her an orphan.

In order to fulfil his brother's last wish to keep his daughter safe, the dishonoured man returns back to the town where his world was turned bright by one human teenager but now he's back with his hands drenched in blood and he's determined to keep her hands clean.

But how can Thea not try to save the man who saved everyone time and time again.
