The bitter cold wind blew outside the luxurious hotel in Covent Gardens, London where in one room inside an outrageously overpriced penthouse, curses and groans were being thrown around like a drunken sailor.

"Oh flip flipity flipping motherfliping hell!"

Theodora Gilbert was running around like a headless chicken, where she was, of course, running late for her flight back home. She had spent the past week in London Town attending a conference with the boarding school's sponsors. Everything had gone smoothly well, except she got in late the night before and overslept, she stupidly didn't pack her things beforehand and was cursing herself for picking such an early flight as she was throwing the last bits and pieces in her suitcase to get on the plane that leaves in just over an hour.

With that being said, Thea barely made it to the airport on time even with the hotel elevator momentarily having a breakdown and her driver nearly hitting a cyclist on the road and became this was Thea Gilbert and she believed in the superstition of bad things come in threes, she found out that her flight was delayed for three hours.

*insert colourful language and internal tears*

The next three and a half hours were spent in the airport doing some light shopping for the troublesome foursome and Ric before heading to the nearest coffee shop, stealing their WiFi and downing caffeine, pretending it was the red juice she craved so badly. Though it was the middle of the night in Virginia, Thea messaged Ric with updates to keep herself occupied and busy so that she didn't think of the quench in her throat, she continued to reply to emails and did some paperwork until her flight was boarding.

Considering Thea was on first class, she found her seat pretty quickly and made herself comfortable for the next seven hours, she played a random movie before the plane even had a chance to take off to distract herself from the overwhelming noises from her surroundings and plane itself were too much for her bloodlust. Four and a half hours in, she somehow managed by compelling small bottles of vodka her way but an old man who was snoring up a storm on the other side of the aisle caused her irritation to flare and on top of that someone from the crew must've injured themselves as the familiar smell of bitter sweetness invaded her nose.

She didn't have the time to feed for the past seven days she spent in London and Thea didn't have the best control like Caroline but she was stable enough to keep it under the realms until it would get too much.

Thea groaned and quietly got up, walking towards the bathroom when she noticed a stewardess was handling cutlery. The hunger was getting to her and she didn't want to hurt the annoying yet defenceless man that was just a few seats away from her so she grabbed the stewardess, gently pushing her in the corner whilst simultaneously closing the curtains so that no one else would see them and did what she had to do. "I'm sorry but don't move and don't make a sound." She grabbed a fancy plastic wine glass and the sharpest tool available for her being a stupid plastic knife, Thea carefully bit into the human's arm and allowed the blood to pour into the glass.

"O negative, not exactly my favourite but it'll do." Thea mumbled, when the glass was halfway filled she nipped her own finger and let a few drops of blood drop into the blonde's mouth, watching the bite mark close up. "Alrighty then! You won't remember what just happened, you're going to go back to doing your work." She said cheerfully.

"Yes ma'am, is there something you need?" The dazed woman asked the vampire, she held her glass up and shook her head.

Thea walked back to her seat when a turbulence shook the plane causing the glass to spill some blood on her shirt, the vampire groaned at her luck as she tried to wipe her white shirt but it was blood so the wiping didn't do much.

She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before she took her anger out on someone by mistake. When she opened them, she smiled and took a sip out of her glass, trying to relax her tense posture, flinching every time the man would snore and occasionally choke on his own saliva.

Eventually, the plane landed with its wheels hitting the ground harshly, causing it to jerk Thea up from her dreamless state. She looked around with panic and caution, forgetting where she was and noticed the man who had been drooling himself to death was awake and staring at her with disgust. The brunette followed his eyes and noticed that the blanket she was under had fallen down and her white top uncovered, displaying the patch of blood.

"Nose bleed, it was a gusher!" She exclaimed causing the man's eyebrows to reach his hairline and she internally cringed. Finally Thea was off the plane and waiting for her bag to arrive so that she could get out of the bloody shirt she was covering with her jacket and after getting the bag, Thea headed to the bathroom to do just that, she took out a new outfit and freshened up. Twenty minutes later it looked as if she woke up filled with energy and ready for the day.

Luckily, her SUV was still in the car park where she had left it the previous week so she didn't have to wait for anyone, she threw her suitcase in the boot and begun her three hour journey back to Mystic Falls.

Five hours. The journey turned into a five hour survival guide with a vampire. First there was insane traffic then just when Thea was three towns over the car battery died which lead to a two hour wait for any cars to drive by and stop and there was no reception in the forest area which Thea didn't seem to get so she kept trying until her phone died.

She nearly cried in relief when the sight of the boarding school just as the sun was setting and eagerly unlocked the gates and parked her car into the private garage. She unloaded her suitcase and rolled it pass the main entrance doors where Ric was waiting for her, pacing back and forth with a worried look.

When he saw her, he let out a sigh and rushed towards her, pulling the brunette into a bear hug. "Why weren't you picking up your phone?"

"Sorry dad, it died." Thea sarcastically replied, rolling her eyes. She pulled back from the hug and scanned him from top to bottom. "Something's different. What's wrong?"

"There's been . . . a development."
