Freshman year of high school

Wyatt was sitting across from me at the principal's office. Principal Greer made sure to have another security wolf officer in the room in case we got into another fight that five other teachers had to break up.

And that was the both of us not being too serious with each other.

"Your father said he's coming," Principal Greer told us, the tension of the room thick. Neither of us would look at each other. We wouldn't look at her either. Of course it was Dad. Mom was doing other things with Aunt Julia, so I'm glad we didn't have to see her first.

"Fine by me if you guys don't explain why.....but you guys did it on the school premise. Which is a very serious offense," Principal Greer continued with her speech.

We waited for at least two hours before Dad came in, apologizing to the Principal for our behavior and the two week suspension. This is an unfair reflection on our parents- our actions that made Dad probably embarrassed.

Dad didn't spare either of us a glance when he told us, "Get in the car."

Wyatt took it to sit in the back, behind Dad, and I went to the passenger seat.

Dad didn't even try to make conversation with us. Didn't want us to explain. I didn't think I'd explain. The whole car ride's deafening silence made me nervous.

I peeked at Dad's expression, hard, lips in a straight line. I wish I could read his mind right now. Sorry didn't cut it. I was sorry to Dad. Not Wyatt.

Once we parked in front of home, we just stayed there for a few moments.

"Alright come on you two," Dad rubbed his hand across his forehead, looking very done with us. He got out the car, and I wondered what Dad was doing walking toward the training grounds. We obeyed him, trailing behind.

Other wolves who were training stopped and peered at the two of us. We always were a spectacle. At least, I was. Wyatt always tagged along in being my partner in crime.

Dad walked into the middle where the training mats were.

"Everyone is dismissed," Dad commanded in an even tone. He never had to raise his voice to make the pack listen to him. That level of respect I aspired to have one day. The level of respect a beloved Alpha has. That Dad has.

All the wolves left as quick as they could- which to my disappointment was quick. It was nice having them around because at least I felt like I had my own pack backing me up in a strange way.

"Go on then," Dad motioned to the mats. "Have at it you two. I won't stop you. No one will."

Wyatt and I were dead silent.
