The next day I was drawing again with my music playing on my small speakers. I get a text from Corey and I am bemused from what he had texted me.
Man Bun:
Wanna go to the café?
Y/N:
Are you going to stand me up again?
Man Bun:
What do you mean?
Y/N:
Yesterday.
Man Bun:
What?
Y/N:
Why are you being so oblivious to this?
Man Bun:
I'm sorry it was a dare
Y/N:
What the fuck Corey.
Man Bun:
I feel guilty. I am so sorry.
Y/N:
Ya know what? Just leave me be the rest of the day.
Man Bun:
I'll make it up to you!
As much as I wanted to respond, I didn't. I set my phone aside and continued working. I softy sang along to the music playing. I worked for a couple of hours and it was a few minutes before sunset was going to start. I decided to go out to the park and enjoy the beauty of the sky. I grab my sketchbook, pencil phone, hoodie, and keys. I put it all in my small backpack.
I start my walk to the park admiring the big city that surrounds me while I walk. The street was framed with buildings. Short and tall. Cars passing by to the changing lights. Pedestrians all along the sidewalk, including myself. As other groups of people pass by I hear short snippets of conversations. I look into some store windows and see some of the places' best items.
I eventually arrive at the park and I find an empty picnic table. I pull my sketchbook and pencil out of my bag. I start drawing out the sunset and other random little things that surround me. It gets darker and darker. When the sky has only some light left I decide to head back.
I pass the streetlights that are now on. They illuminate among the night's darkness and so do the car's headlights. The stores' light illuminated from the inside to the outside. The stores that were closed already, lights from outside sources reflected off the windows.
I arrive back at my apartment and see a small note attached to my door. At first, I panic a bit, thinking it's an eviction paper. Then, I question why I'd get one. Finally, I take the note off the door and read it in a mumble.
To Y/N
Meet me at the café tomorrow at 11 AM. I promise I won't stand you up. Also clear your plans :)
From Man Bun Man
It's hard not to smile seeing that he signed it off as Man Bun Man. I go inside my apartment and place my bag on the counter. I take a shower and change into my pajamas. I go to the kitchen and make myself some dinner of a simple sandwich.
I grab my bag off the counter and my dinner. I eat my dinner and watch YouTube at my desk. When I finish I finish up the video first then start working. I go back to the same art I was working on the previous nights. It is getting close to completion.
