Stanley was standing in the Synagogue, the Torah in front of his face as he tried to say the words, the kippa -thanks to Nina- resting on his head. His eyes scanned the pages, now because of his Kippa, Nina in his head. Great, now he couldn't concentrate at all.
''You're not studying, Stanley.'' Stanley stopped talking, his head hanging low as he heard his father. ''How's it gonna look? The rabbi's son can't finish his own Torah reading.'' He looked at his son before sighting. ''Take the book to my office. Obviously you're not using it.''
Stanley closed the book and took it under his arm. He walked towards the office of his father, a hand in front of the right side of his face, trying not to see the painting of the weird looking woman on the wall.
But he couldn't keep himself from noticing that the painting wasn't hanging straight. He placed the book down onto his father's desk and walked towards the painting. Holding his breath in fear as he looked at the painting, hanging it straight again.
He walked towards the other books again, hearing a thud behind him. He softly turned around, his breath stuck in his throat as he gulped. Seeing the painting on the ground, he walked towards it and took it into his hands, not noticing the flickering lights above him. He hung it up again, now noticing the woman wasn't there anymore.
He turned to the door quickly when he heard a fluid, turning around softly to hear weird voices and the woman staring at him. He rushed out of the room, bumping hardly into Nina.
''Woow!'' Both of them fell onto the ground, groaning in pain. ''We have to stop falling over as soon as we're together.'' Stanley got up and pulled his girlfriend onto her feet, her hand was now taped in a white bandage as it was still hurting to much.
''Sorry, are you alright?''
''Yeah, I'm okay birdboy.'' She stopped talking for a moment, looking down to her feet, her hand playing with the bandage on her other hand. ''We should go and meet up with the other losers, they are picking Eddie up.''
The two of them waited outside for Eddie, Bill and Richie to come outside again. Nina was tapping her hands on her bike as Stanley was pacing in front of her. she looked over to him and chuckled, getting his attention.
''What got you so nervous all of the sudden? Did something happen?''
''Nothing, nothing to worry around.''
''Around? Don't you mean about?''
''Yeah, yeah sure.'' Stanley exhaled in relief as he heard the door of Eddie's house open, and hearing Eddie apologize to his mother for some reason. He got back onto his bike as the other boys grabbed their bikes from the ground, Nina already kicking off and riding next to her brother.
As they passed the library, Bill yelled out to the others.
''High-yo Silver awaaay!''
''Your old lady bike's too fast for us.'' Richie called out, Bill still paddling his feet as fast as possible while Nina was driving a bit more controlled, meeting up with Stanley in the back, the two of them grabbing each others hand. Smiling at each other as they continued to paddle towards the sewers.
Arriving at the sewers, Nina and Stanley let go of each others hands as they both put their bikes on the stand, Nina following Bill to the front of the big open sewer.
''I don't know. I guess.'' She could still hear Stanley tell Eddie something about poison ivy as she and Bill were standing in front of the sewer.
''That's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy. And that's poison ivy.'' Stanley pointed at all different kind of plants, Eddie was now fully freaking out about it, while Nina and Bill already made their way fully into the sewers, Richie following closely behind.
