Just another loser [Stanley Uris x oc]

chapter seven

Two days went by as the losers put the last touches to the newly build clubhouse. While Stanley and Beverly went into town to get the last of the stuff, the other losers were working on stabilizing the construction. Nina hammered a nail into a pillar, giving it a bit more support. Bill was hanging up a hang mat out of their old room as Mike and Eddie were placing some other stuff such as an old couch in the clubhouse. Ben was inspecting the latest chances when Stanley and Beverly came back.

The losers looked at their work proudly as Stanley got his backpack and pulled out a few showercaps. He wanted to pass one to Richie, who just scoffed.

''What the fuck is this for?''

''So you don't get spiders stuck in your hair while you're down here.'' He smirked as Richie sneered at him.

''We're not scared of fucking spiders Stan the man.'' But when he turned to their friends, he saw all of them putting on the caps, freezing when Richie said. ''I stand corrected.''

''that's a first.'' Beverly commented as she helped Nina get her ponytail under the cap, making sure that nothing got into her hair.

''Touche.'' He said as he kept reading his magazine. Eddie walked up to him and they started to argue about the ten minute rule. Mike got on the swing and studied the two boys, tapping Nina who giggled at their behavior, leaning against a pole.

Stanley sighed and rolled his eyes at them as Ben turned on the box and started to repair a few planks as Beverly walked up to him.

''Thanks, there is a summer program and I was thinking of applying.''

''i'd do that, I'd do anything to get out of Derry.'' Richie commented, trying to get comfortable in the hang mat as Eddie shoved him around. Mike smiled and nodded.

''When I graduate I'm going to Florida.''

''Why, Mike? What's there?''

''I don't know.'' He said with a dreamy smile. Stanley and Nina exchanged glances, neither of them had ever spoken about what they wanted to do after high school. ''I - I guess it's just a place where I always wanted to go.''

''Stan you should go with Mike to Florida, you already act eighty. You clean up with all the grandma's.'' The other losers laughed, but Nina didn't. She didn't want Stanley to go to Florida, not without her at least.

''Do - do you guys think we'll still be friends? When we're older?''

''What? Why wouldn't we be?''

''Do any of your parents still hang out with friends from middle school?'' He questioned, Bill and Nina looking at each other, softly shaking their heads. Their parents didn't seem to have any friends at all.

Eddie now removed Richie's glasses with his foot, annoying Richie even further. ''I - I mean thing might be different then. We ALL might be different.'' He looked at Nina as she looked down onto the floor, she didn't want to think of that.

''We'll still b-be friends I-I don't t-think that it j-just g-goes away because w-we get older.''

''Yeah Stan, come on. I don't want to be so ... sad.'' Beverly replied, looking over to the other losers. Stanley looked down again, softly shaking his head and chuckling at himself.

''Yeah ... yeah you're right.'' He pulled on Nina's hand, pulling her into his lap as she sat her head down onto his shoulder, closing her eyes and thinking of her and Stan's future. 

The losers had gone above the ground again, getting some fresh air in their lungs as they listened to Ben.
