Azura POV
"What do you want to talk about?" I stared at Chase with an emotionless face and he played with his hands.
Chase had come to my table and asked me for a word outside in the schools garden.
It feels like every time I go to this garden something emotional happens.
"I want to apologise for my behaviour... I've been a selfish, sadistic, self-centered asshole and I want to say I'm sorry... I didn't stop to think about you or anyone else's feelings" he started, looking in my eyes and my face softened.
This idiot was actually apologising.
"I just - dad never paid attention to me so I did the wrong things to get his attention and that was stupid of me, I know that now... my mother doesn't listen to me either so I just did things out of anger of not having anyone to be there for me... I shouldn't have pushed you away the day we met" he looked back down and I smiled.
"Why do you hate River?" I crossed my arms over my chest and hid my smile. "I don't hate River, I guess I was just jealous of all the attention he was getting when he first came here... he didn't need to do anything, everyone just liked him, girls flocked to him guys wanted to be like him... I guess I'm an attention seeker" he sighed looking down.
I placed my hand under his chin and lifted his face up. "I forgive you but I think you should apologise to River" I removed my hand from his face and he smiled sadly and nodded.
"Wait did you just say you forgive me?" He did a double take and I nodded while chuckling. He launched himself at me and I squeaked.
"What are you doing?? Let her go!" I turned towards River's voice and saw his eyes flash green behind his glasses, his lips sporting an angry sneer and the veins on his arms looked more prominent causing my eyes to widen."Chase let go before he does something he'll regret" I whisper in his ear and he pulls away quickly like I burnt him.
His green eyes looked awfully familiar when they flashed green.
Hmmm.
I quickly stood up in time to jump infront of River. We locked eyes and his face immediately softened. He cupped my cheeks his eyes searching mine.
What for, I don't know.
"Are you Alright? He didn't hurt you did He?" He pulled me to his chest and I nodded my face burried in his chest. "He was apologising " my voice was muffled by his shirt.
"Are you ok?" I pulled my face away and looked at his face. "What do you mean?" He furrowed his eyebrows and I shook my head. "Never mind that... Chase has something He wants to tell you" I turned towards Chase who was standing behind me awkwardly.
River pulled his hands away from around my shoulders and I removed mine from around his waist. I suddenly felt cold.
I moved aside and stood next to him as he stared at Chase, face blank.
"Go on Chase"
"Uhm... I want to apologise for mistreating you these past three months... I know I was wrong to do that... I hope you can forgive me" he scratched the back of his neck and I held my breath as I waited for River's reaction.
"I forgive you but I don't trust you" River said in a monotone voice and I breathed out. River turned his body towards me now, his eyes flashing green again and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"River?" I took a step back and he took a step forward. We continued until my back was pressed up against the wall and he was caging me with his arms either side of my head.
