・゚: *・゚:* *:・゚*:・゚ THE SOUND OF HOSPITAL MACHINERY BEEPING BOUNCED FROM EAR TO EAR. That's the only sense I allowed myself to use. For a very long time, my hearing guided me. I heard feet shuffling, people crying, and occasional 'do you think she'll be okay?'

It's not that I couldn't open my eyes. I just know the second I do my whole world will change.
"Her heart rate is stable, my dear," an older voice said, "you can go on home now." It was Recovery Girl.

Someone I didn't expect to answer spoke, "I'm not leaving," My own curiosity beat me. I had to open my eyes now knowing who was sitting in the chair beside my bed.

Bakugou was staring at the boring white wall of the room. Of course, it took a moment for my focus to kick in, but once it did I saw his worrisome face.

Was it worrisome? It was so fixated on the wall I couldn't tell what emotion it was. He didn't notice my consciousness first. Recovery Girl was the one to notice and rush to my aid.

"Now, Ith," she towered over me, "Don't move your head, darlin'. You're neck and shoulder are still in critical condition."

The boy beside me snapped out of his deep thoughtful trance. He watched as the woman unwrapped my blood seeped bandages. When the cold air brushed against it, it stung with fuzzy memories of what happened.

I only remember being held by the neck. Then, blacking out. "Son, it's best if you went home."

Bakugou shifted uncomfortably in his seat now that I'm awake. He doesn't like being under my absent, transparent gaze.

Without another word, he stood, walking to the door. I turned my head before he left, not actually seeing it.

"Where's my uncle..." Recovery Girl shushed me because apparently, Bakugou was still in the room. After a few seconds, she continued, "he's just in the other room recovering like you," she told me.

At this news, I tried to push myself up with my elbows but was quickly put back down by the old pro, "no-no. No need to get up. I need you to stay still."

As time passed, the previous day came crawling back to recognition. I remember hearing my uncle's voice.

"DON'T LISTEN TO HIM! COVER YOUR EARS!"

He said. Just letting my mind think like it usually did caused my eyes to water. This made my chest rise and fall out of pattern. When it did this, the machine I was hooked up to beeped rapidly with urgency. A nurse I didn't recognize came rushing to my side, placing some kind of oxygen mask on my face.
