The Congolese sky was pitch black. So dark that the moon shined brighter in the clear sky. The moon, full and bright, was like a spotlight. A spotlight that shone down on Alister.

He zoomed through the sky. His armor shimmered to match his wings. His mace glowed and vibrated as he got closer.

From below, Alister resembled an angel of the lord. He must've been from the heavens. That's what the citizens of a small village believed.

Alister was flying anywhere but to heaven. He was going straight to hell. That was the only place he could find what he searched for. Who he searched for.

He swooped down and landed in an alley. Small fires illuminated the alley from the windows of homes. His mace pulsed with an urgency.

"I know, I know. We're close. I can feel it too." Alister said aloud.

He stomped over gravel. He crossed house after house until he found it. A modest clay home. The only house without a lit fire.

Alister, lacking the patience for hospitality, lifted his mace. He smashed the mace into the wall. It took one swing to cave the entire wall in.

"Knock, knock." He muttered.

Alister stepped into the dark living room. It was uninhabited, much like the kitchen. He stood so still that not a single feather on his back blew with the wind.

He shut his eyes and focused. As he tuned the rest of the world out, his superhuman hearing grew stronger. He listened for any signs of life.

Alister could hear several heartbeats. He opened his eyes and stared at the floor. He could see several heat signatures moving underneath him.  He smirked.

Alister lifted his mace and slammed it down on the floor. The floor caved in. Men screamed as debris rained down on them.

Alister floated above them. 4 men were crushed under the weight. 2 men remained relatively unharmed. They shouted in French.

One man reached for a semi-automatic gun. "Ah, Ah, I wouldn't do that." Alister spoke. His French was impeccable.

"What is that?" One man asked.

"It doesn't matter, just kill it! We have to get these diamonds out of here." The other responded.

The man with the gun fumbled with his safety switch. His hands trembled so.

Alister rolled his eyes. "Okay this is getting painful to watch." He said.

He flicked his mace downward. His mace pounded down on the armed man's chest. The man plummeted to the floor, knocked out cold.

Alister landed on a chunk of debris. He called his mace back to him. He glared at the last man standing.

"P.. Please don't hurt me. Take the diamonds, take them." The man whimpered. He thrusted the bag of blood diamonds forward.

"I'm not here for diamonds, I'm here for information." Alister said. He rolled his eyes.

"Answers? I'm just a man, I have no answers..."

"I'll be the judge of that." Alister said. "I'm looking for a lion, but not just any lion, one that talks."

The man forced a laugh. "A bird man has come to me in search of a talking lion. This is crazy..."
