Things were weird at school without talking to Mia. It was for the best. I entered first period after the bell had rang. It was fucking science class. It had Grayson in the class. I was in a senior class for science with some juniors. But the thing I kept looking forward to was volleyball practice. The season had started again and I was pumped.

"Running a little late there, Miss Mendoza?" The teacher, Mr. Palmer asked. I cleared my throat and sat with Grayson.

"Just a bit,"

"Another tardy, Paisley, and that's a detention." He smiled. I nodded. "Anyway, class.." I stopped paying attention after that.

Science was my best subject. It came naturally to me. I was super nerdy when it came to science and I'd never admitted it, but I wanted to major in sciences. Everything he tried to teach me, I already knew.

"Do you know about, um, Ethan and I?" I whispered to Grayson. He laughed but quietly and nodded.

"I know that you thought you were pregnant. Trust me, he tells me everything." Wow. Okay. Uh.

There was a moment of silence before we spoke. "Mia and I aren't friends anymore. She was smoking and I didn't like it."

"Good for you, Pais. Way to be a healthy teen," I nodded my head and smiled.

"Thanks, Gray,"

"But I'm sorry that you're no longer friends. You've known her almost as long as you've known Eth and I."

I heard someone whisper my name. I turned in my seat and saw a girl who was a junior named Elena. She was nice but Mia told me she had a crush on Keaton. I doubted it.

"Ready for practice?" She asked. I smiled and nodded. The only problem was that McKenzie was on the team, she was the worst teammate.

"Totally! Are you?"

"Duh!" I smiled.

I spun back around and Grayson raised an eyebrow. "Fuck, I forgot you're doing volleyball. Poor Ethan."

I laughed but quickly stopped because I had no idea what he was talking about. "Poor Ethan what?"

"Today for our football practice, we're lifting weights so we'll be sharing a gym with the volleyball girls. I'm just saying - you'll be wearing tiny shorts, he'll want to fuck you right then and there." My cheeks turned red.

"Tell him to keep his shirt on and I'll wear my long spandex." I told Grayson. He laughed. No way in hell would I ever miss an opportunity to drive Ethan crazy. I didn't even have long spandex!

"Sounds good. He'll probably appreciate the trade," I chuckled. "I'd also be a bit careful though."

"What?"

"The boys on our team get rowdy when they see a girl. Imagine what they'd do if they see you, Pais." I shook my head.

"You guys are my bodyguards," I told him. He shrugged. Luckily, Keaton wasn't a football boy, he was a lacrosse boy. So Keaton would not be there.

"I don't want to have to throw a punch if I don't have to, but you know I would." He assured me. I smiled.

"I know, Gray. But you know that E would,"

"He'd do anything for you," He said. That honestly caught me off guard. He would? My smile grew and I probably looked like an idiot.

I walked into the locker room, greeted by McKenzie immediately. "You're doing volleyball again?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing!" She frowned, glaring at me. She stood in the way of my locker and crossed her arms. "Excuse me, McKenzie."
