"Stop Pushing Me Away!" - Max Verstappen

Prompts; A10- "Sometimes I wonder how I fell in love with you." & A29- "Stop pushing me away!"

Warnings; Angst!

(Y/n) sits down on the couch next to Max wanting to cuddle with him, as soon as she sits down he moves up the couch creating space between them, (Y/n) lets out a frustrated sigh.

"Okay, I've had enough of this." (Y/n) says getting up from the couch.

"Enough of what?" Max asks, oblivious to what he has been doing ever since she had moved in with me.

"Of you, Of this, I can't live like this anymore." (Y/n) says, she had enough of their living arrangements, she was tired trying to gain his attention.

"What are you talking about?" Max asks, he wanted to know what he did wrong, he thought they were happy but now she was telling him otherwise.

"I'm talking about how you're being so distant with me, how you're being so cold towards me." (Y/n) says, When Max had asked her to move in with she thought it would be the next step in their relationship, not the end of it. "If you don't want to be with me anymore, you should've just said so before inviting me to live with you." Max stood up from the couch as (Y/n) started leaving the living room.

"Where is this suddenly coming from, (Y/n)?" Max asks, (Y/n) spins around to face him.

"It isn't suddenly, Max!" (Y/n) says loudly. "It has been ever since I moved in with you, it's like you're trying to push me away." (Y/n) states. "Stop pushing me away and just break up with me already!" Max was completely shocked, the colour from his skin drained as it dawned on him that she thought he wanted to end things, his mouth falls open to trying as he tries to find the right words to say. "I'm waiting, please, end this suffering." She was close to tears by now.

"I didn't— I thought— (Y/n)." Max tries to say but struggled to find the right words. "I don't."

"You don't, what?" (Y/n) asks, Max slowly walks towards her. "You didn't? you thought? What, Max?" (Y/n) asks, rubbing the tears from her eyes. "It's times like these that sometimes I wonder how I fell in love with you."

"I don't want to break up." Max blurts out, I need to set things straight, I need to let her know that I don't want to lose her, Panic ran through his thoughts as he tried to think. "I swear, I don't want to break up, I didn't even realise I was being distant with you." (Y/n) looks at him with confusion in her eyes, he was now standing in front of her.

"How do you not realize that you're being distant?" (Y/n) asks. "You ignore me when you get home, sometimes I go to bed alone and more of the time, I wake up alone."

"I'm sorry, I just— I don't— No, I wasn't thinking," Max says. "I thought now that we were living together, that we were closer, I didn't realize..."

"How have you been so oblivious? How?" (Y/n) asks, she wanted to know.

"I don't— I don't have an excuse for that," Max says. "In my head, I had this picture each time when coming home, I would greet you with a kiss and we would cuddle on the couch, I— I just didn't realize that I forgot to, I don't— I'm sorry."

"You make me feel so unwanted, Max..." (Y/n) softly says. "I'm just so tired of this..."

"Give me a chance to make this right..." Max says, his voice pleading her.

"I don't—" (Y/n) stops for a moment. "I just think... I think I should move out."

"No, please, don't," Max says, feeling a faint pain in his chest. "Don't end this."

"I'm not ending anything..." (Y/n) says. "I'm just moving out..." (Y/n) states. "Until we can fix whatever happened between us... Until we're ready to actually live together, I don't think this option is the best." That wasn't what Max wanted at all, but if that was the best option. "This isn't the end... this is just a speed bump, we need to slow down, take a few steps back." Max slowly nods his head.

"Okay... if it will work." Max says. "I didn't mean... I didn't want you to feel like that, It wasn't my intentions." (Y/n) nods her head.

"We'll be okay... Everything will work out the way it has to."
