Mitch's POV

I'm so nervous. Today's my first day of school, and I'm a junior. Thanks a lot, parents. They decided to move me with my sister because of my mom being sick. They didn't want me to see her die. My mom and I are so close. She's my best friend. She's the reason I sing, but I don't anymore. I haven't sang in seven years, when they diagnosed her with cancer. I sing when I'm alone, but never for people. She's been taken off chemo. It's now just a matter of days. The only person I know from here is a girl named Kirstie. She's the only one, except for my mom and sister, that knows I'm gay. The only thing is that she's a senior next year, so I better make a lot of friends, but I highly doubt that will happen. The only people that will be friends with a gay person are girls or other gay guys. She wants me to try out for the musical theater class they have, but that's not gonna happen. I quit singing, and I don't plan on starting again. Another reason I left is because I know that once my mom passes away and I have to tell my dad that I'm gay, he'll get pissed. My dad is homophobic, and he doesn't care who all knows that.

"I'm going to school!" I yell to Skye, my sister.

"Alright! Call me if you need anything!"

I see Kirstie pull into the driveway to take me to school. I am so gonna hate this school.
