A/N: Mitch's outfit for the concert is the outfit he wore for "Mary, Did You Know?". Also, I know Mitch didn't write the song that is said he wrote, but let's just say he did. One more thing: I edited the song a little bit. The actual song is Terrible Things by Mayday Parade.
Scott's POV
Today is day one of Mitch's tour, and we're in Las Vegas. The show is already sold out, and neither of us could be more excited. What Mitch doesn't know is that I'm gonna propose to him.
Mitch's POV
"Scott?" I yell, walking into the hotel room. I look down to see rose petals scattered over the floor. They lead me out of the door and into the hallway, soon going up steps. As I get on the roof, I see Scott, Kirsite, her boyfriend Avi, and my sister. "What's going on?" I ask.
"Mitch, I may have not known you for long, but I feel like I've known you forever. You're my backbone, and you're the reason I'm here today. You're my everything, and I hope you always will be. So, Mitchell Grassi." He gets down on one knee, and tears begin to swell in my eyes. "Will you do me the honor of being my husband?" I walk up to him as he stands up and I kiss his lips.
"Yes." I whisper with our heads together. He puts the ring on my finger, and I couldn't be happier. Other than, ya know, having cancer.
--A COUPLE HOURS LATER--
"I can't believe you asked me to marry you." Mitch says, hugging me from behind. I turn around and see him standing there, looking as handsome as ever. He's wearing a light sweater, black skinny jeans, and black boots.
"I can't wait to marry you, beautiful." He takes my hand as we walk to the theater where he's performing. He starts his warm ups while I get the piano ready. He walks up to me before the show starts.
"I wrote a new song, and I want you to listen to the lyrics. I wanted to tell you sooner, and I hope it doesn't change anything between us."
"Is everything okay?" I asked, worried.
"Please welcome to the stage Mitch Grassi!"
"It's the second to last song. I love you, Scott."
"I love you too, Mitch. Break a leg!" I say, kissing him. He walks out, and the crowd goes absolutely wild. He starts a couple of fast songs, a slower song, a couple more fast songs. He talks to the crowd, and they love him to pieces. I just want to know what the song is.
"So, I wrote a new song. In my life right now, I've got a lot going on. I'm starting a tour, I'm getting married." He held up his ring, and the crowd went wild. Mitch posted a coming out video before tour. "Scott, give a quick wave!" I peek out and wave to the audience, and I hear them laugh. "I also got some news. That news is what this song is about. I wrote it for, well, my cat. I was writing, and I think of my cat, Wyatt, as my son. I was writing it in my room while Scott was out, and I felt this song needed to be sang to someone. So, I pretended I had a son, which I don't, and I thought and thought, and that's how I wrote this song, Terrible Things. Scott hasn't even heard the song yet, so this is brand new, and you guys will be the first people to hear it. This song is about my life, and it's me telling him about my relationship with my fiancé and my news I've learned. So, I hope you understand." I, with the rest of the crowd, was confused. He walks over to the piano and begins to play. Of course, it's a depressing song.
"By the time I was your age, I'd give anything to fall in love truly was all I could think. That's when I met your father, the boy of my dreams. The most beautiful man that I'd ever seen. I said, 'Boy, can I tell you a wonderful thing? I can't help but notice you're staring at me. I know I shouldn't say this, but I really believe I can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me.' Now son, I'm only telling you think because life can do terrible things."
Everyone is still super-duper confused.
"Now most of the time, we'd have too much to drink. And we'd laugh at the stars, and we'd share everything. Too young to notice and too dumb to care, love was a story that couldn't compare. He said 'Boy, can I tell you a wonderful thing? I made you a present with paper and string. Open with care. Now, I'm asking you please. You know that I love you. Will you marry me?' Now son, I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things. You'll learn one day. I'll hope and I'll pray that god shows you differently."
He stops playing and looks back at me. He mouths "I'm sorry" and continues. I can tell he's about to cry.
"I said 'Boy, can I tell you a terrible thing? It seems that I'm sick, and I've only got weeks. Please don't be sad. Now, I really believe you were the greatest thing that ever happened to me."
He starts playing the piano harder.
"Slow, so slow. He fell to the ground on his knees.
I did. I fell to the ground on my knees, tears pouring out of my eyes. My Mitch. My love. My baby. He's sick.
"So don't fall in love. There's just too much to lose. If given the choice, I'm begging you choose to walk away. Walk away. Don't let him get you. I can't bear the see the same happen to you. Now son, I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things."
He gets up from the piano, and it's silent. Then everyone starts applauding. I walk out on stage, knowing that I shouldn't, but I also know Mitch needs me. I bring him into my arms, and he tucks his head into my neck.
"I'm so sorry, Scott."
"It's alright. We'll talk about this after your show. Sing your heart out for this last song. Okay?"
"Okay. Thank you."
"I love you, Mitchie." I kissed his cheek and walked to his dressing room, and I just sunk to the floor. I can hear him singing a song he wrote for me called See Through, but I can't even think about it. My Mitch is dying, and there's nothing I can do about it. But I'll do all that I can.
