Lucy sat on the loveseat like couch she had in their living room. She read a book titled fungi for brewers, with rituals and concoctions. pressed up her glasses and looked up from the interesting novel. Lucy immediately saw the small kitchen, overrun with pots and pans alike. Looking to her left, having to peer over the arm of the tall loveseat, she saw her girlfriends ritual placing.
In this world everyone is a magic-user, either a brewer or spellcaster. Both types have sort of sub-genres, for brewers it’s rituals or concoctions. The sub-genres don’t really make a difference whether you’re a spellcaster or brewer, just what you focus on in studies or work. Lucy was a brewer, and focused on concoctions. She was almost a spellcast- nevermind.
Suddenly, Lucy heard the front door bang open against the wall behind her, making her whip around in shock and almost fear. Almost as soon as the door opened, Elodie sprinted through the door, cloak trailing behind her.
“Shit!” Elodie looked pale, and her eyes were wide with fear. She had small, shallow cuts all over her cloak and face. She was panting, as if she had been running a long distance. Fast.
“El, what happened? You’re cut…” Lucy sprang up, ready to help her lover and friend. If anyone did this to her, she swore…
“Hi, honey, can you get me an empty bottle? Preferably a small one…,” I got it…. Finally. I got it before them… even if this brought danger to us all, I finally have it. Elodie opened her hand and caught her breath. Her hand revealed a black-gray flower with a long stem, branching off into smaller stems, and at the end of each… “flos mortem. Flower death… Deaths flower.”
“...What?”
Elodie spun around in surprise to see Lucy standing there in shock, holding a small bottle. It dropped to the floor and shattered. “D-deaths flower? How… How, Elodie?! Why.. That thing is danger- ous!”
“Lucy, I can explain, please…” Elodie rushed over, her elevator boots shielding her feet from the glass shards on the ground. She grasped Lucy’s hands and looked her in the eyes. “Lucy… please… It’s ok! I’m ok! See?..” Lucy blinked and seemed to get out of shock. Her eyes filled with tears, but none dropped.
“I-I...I’m sorry… I’ll clean this up… I didn’t mean to yell… I was just worried.” Lucy proceeded to get a towel and clean up the shards.
“It wasn’t your fault. I shouldn't have been so panicked. Wait, you’ll cut yourself. Let me help.” Elodie bent down too and helped Lucy pick up the shards. With padded gloves, it was easier and safer.
Lucy looked up at elodie and smiled. Her rosy cheeks blushed even more at the sight of her beautiful love, “I’ll get another bottle. You stay here. She kissed elodie’s head and got up to get another bottle.
