Chapter Ten - Second Practice

"Ok, good job now this time when you dodge around me fake one way and go the other. That way you have the best chance of losing your player" it was Tommy and Megan's second practice after school.

Megan thought she was improving until she did what Tommy had asked.

Running at him and faking left was easy but getting control of the ball again, not so much.

The ball flew off right to the other side of the pitch.

Before Megan could start running to get it back, Tommy was off.

In half the time it would've taken Megan to get to the ball Tommy was back.

"So that I don't have to run off again lets do this next to the goals." Megan obliged and after a few more mistakes and retries she got the hang of it.

After a little more practice she was able to do it with out looking at the ball and eventually was able to beat Tommy using the tactic.

It was around 5 o'clock when Megan's phone rang. "Hello, Megan speaking"

Tommy noticed that she had sat down and came over to tell her to get off her phone, by the time he got over to her she had already hung up.

"What's up? Why did you run off?"

Suddenly Megan stood up grabbed her things.

Calling over her shoulder she yelled back to Tommy "Sorry but I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow same time." Then she started running.

It didn't take Megan too long to get to Athena's house.

Instead of waking the whole house she ran around the side to see Athena stuck half way up the tree outside of her bedroom window.

Megan couldn't help it and started laughing at the sight, quickly taking a photo she moved so that Athena could see her.

Then in a yelled whisper she got her attention; "Hey loser, tell me again why your stuck in a tree?"

In the same yell whisper Athena cursed under her breath before pleading Megan to help her. "Come on, I'll owe you big time I just need a little push"

"Only if you tell me why you're where you are"

"I had to sneak out to meet Chris. Mum doesn't really approve of him so he helped me get down. When I got back everyone was a sleep so I thought I'd go in the way I came out but when he dropped me off he completely forgot. That was when I tried climbing. Then I looked down half way up or so and slid a bit until I got stuck. I would have looked so stupid if I called Chris so you were my next best option. I guess that wasn't my smartest plan to date."

This was probably one of the most amusing stories Megan had heard especially since Athena was a afraid of heights and she thought this was a good idea.

"Ok, I'll help you but your right you owe me big time!"

Quickly and silently Megan took her shoes off that would be too slippery to wear because of the mud and clumsily climbed up the tree to where Athena was stuck.

It took some time for Megan to get Athena unstuck but eventually she was free and slowly making her way up the tree.

In silence Megan helped Athena get up to the window and pushed her in.

After that she climbed back down, grabbed her shoes and bag and ran back home.
