"Hello, love" Klaus spoke gently beside me, I looked around frantically, not able to find a clear way out. Sighing as I accepted defeat.

"Klaus... I don't think I'm prepared for this" I said, honestly.
He looked at me, shaking his head and taking my hand in his. "To me, it seems as if you are prepared for everything, little warrior."

His words meant a lot, together we could take down a whole army so a room of doors have nothing against us, just possible mental fatigue.

Making my way to the first safe, I knew what I needed to do. Taking out the letter and key, I proceeded to the first door.
Opening the letter I saw the all too familiar handwriting, my mother's.

To my beloved daughter,
My whole heart is with you, I have watched over you since I passed, connected with these safes are letters not only from me, and a key for each door, you will know what to do, you're a smart girl. I am proud of you, little wolf.
Forever with you,
Y/m/n

So many questions erupted my head, did she create this room? Did she put me here? As a single tear cascaded down my cheek, I carefully folded the letter and placed it in my pocket.

"We need to go through the doors until we find the right one," I said confidently to Klaus, he nodded firmly to say that he trusts me.

Placing the key in the lock to the first door, twisting it slowly, the anticipation taking over. The door opened to reveal a village, the village looked somehow familiar. Klaus and I looked at each other as we stepped inside, the memory engulfing us.

——— ~ ———

I watched as my younger self came forth from the trees, looking around curiously. I managed to remember that I had been wondering around in search of any life, the old village I was placed in burned down, sadness overcame me as I remembered being the cause of it.

I focussed back onto the memory as I watched myself walk towards it, looking for anyone who could help. She was stumbling slightly due to her exhausted from my three-day search, she was looking around and could hear the faint sound of laughter in the near distance.

We followed myself as we saw her going towards the noise, Klaus intensely watched, he was watching my life unfold, his face wasn't harsh or angry- instead, he looked gentle and nostalgic, he was so fixated on this memory, it made me smile.

She walked into the village, trying to compose herself and look more presentable- which was hard considering her torn clothes and shoeless feet, to anyone it could look as if she had just turned back from wolf form, but they all knew that only happened on a full moon.

Towards the laughter she saw children playing, Vikings talking to one another, mothers tending to clothes or food and others who looked to be around her visual age. Especially one, he stood out to her the most.

She wanted to fit in, by doing this she focussed on her being and shifted into a more stable appearance. Except when she walked around people were curious as to who she was having never seen her before, just as she was about to go up to who looked to be the leader of the village, the boy who she saw first came rushing up to her.

"One second Kol," he yelled behind as he approached her carefully. "Are you okay, miss? Would you like me to help you?" He asked her, concern written on his face, Niklaus. She was so shocked that he was able to see her.

"I- um, excu-" she began to speak but was interrupted by the infamous Kol.

"Oh my, who may you be? Are you a villager? I highly doubt it, I am almost certain I would remember such grace, I do not recognise you from anywhere" He said as he placed his lips against the back of her hand, being the flirtatious Kol he lived up to be.

"Brother, I wish you would be considerate sometimes, don't you see she is in clear need of help?" She was worried he would blow her cover, Kol looked at her and his brother confused as to what Niklaus meant.

"My name is Cordelia, I was named after a flower that grew amongst some wolves in my village but it was attacked," She said, lying flawlessly- that was always her go-to name when she was lying, it was the name of someone she once trusted with her soul.

Niklaus looked at her, tilting his head slightly with the face he still makes to this day when he believes he is being deceived. "May I please speak with you amongst no one? Sir..." She trailed on requesting his name.

"Niklaus, Niklaus Mikaelson," He said, he agreed almost immediately to her request. She walked towards the woods, somewhere she knew they could speak freely with no prying eyes nor ears. Niklaus looked at her, as he stopped just outside the trees.

"You should not worry, I am no thief to you or your life."

He hesitantly came forth, following her but stood closer, he had seen the beasts that turned at night out here- he loved to watch them, he always felt a closeness towards them.

When we were a safe distance, I turned and looked at him, deeply in the eyes.
"How can you see me?" She interrogated him, his face expressed confusion, not understanding the question.

"Please, you must know. I am a witch, I can change my appearance in the eyes of all, but apparently not you?" I said, desperation evident in my voice. He did not fear her when she told him that she was a witch, this made her more comfortable in his presence.

"I... my lady, I do not have an answer." She knew he was telling the truth, she could sense it. It still didn't stop her mind from wondering.

"My offer still stands, love, I think you still need help, a change of clothes perhaps? Some water? We went hunting just this morning and it was a success, my father, I am sure he would have got enough to feed the village and more," he said, still concerned for her health.

I looked at Klaus next to me, his face fond as he and I suddenly remembered our first meeting.

A/N I didn't want this chapter to be too long and drag on so I guess I'll leave it at that aha.
