The First Born

"Alpha," I said while rushing into the Alpha office, not knocking before I entered to see the former Alpha Nickolas looking over his shoulder at some documents, "Luna Jenifer has gone into labor."

Nickolas smiled while looking at his son, but Alpha John was worried, "what wonderful news."

He stood up while Alpha Nickolas said with joy in his voice, "come on, son, let's go meet the new Alpha."

"Of course."

Alpha John didn't seem happy with the choice. He seemed worried. I wonder what he has to worry about? As they stood up, his father started to talk about baby boys' names.

"Come on, one more push," said Doctor Wilson.

For the last eight hours, I have been in labor, and now my baby will finally come. I can't wait to meet her. I knew my baby would be a girl; call it a mother instinct. The news of my baby's gender was a secret because I didn't want anyone to know the gender until she came.

She will be the firstborn female to take the Alpha position. I wanted to see their reaction to a girl since every line of the Alpha's family was male. It was hard keeping a secret like this from my mate. He begged and prayed for a baby boy and even went as far as naming the child Artemis. I was brought out of my thoughts as the doctor said:

"Come, just three more big pushes."

"You can do this, love," hearing my mate's soft words whispering into my ear. He kissed me on the top of my forehead while squeezing my hand for comfort.

I took a deep breath in and gave it my all. As the last push, I closed my eyes while holding back a scream to hear at the end a baby cry. I opened my eyes to see a worried expression.

"What's wrong," I said, "is our baby okay?"

As I steadied my breathing, he looked at my mate than me, "of course, nurse, get the bath ready so we can watch off the blood."

She walked towards the door with the doctor trailing behind her. I looked up at my mate and asked, "what just happened? Shouldn't I be holding our baby in my arms?"

"Of course, you should," I started to move to go after the doctor to be stopped.

I growled, "don't hold me back from seeing what they are doing to our baby."

"I'll go find out, but you need to rest for now."

"I'll rest until-"

I stopped talking as I heard the door opening, which caused me to look at Nickolas, "I'm afraid something went wrong, and your baby is going through surgery."

"What," I started to get worried, "how the doctor told me she was perfectly healthy from the last check-up?"

"I don't know, but he is doing everything to save her."

My head started to get light, and my body felt weak.

"Here, lay back."

As he gently laid me down on the bed, I said, "I can't. She needs me-"

"I'll be right beside her, and besides, she needs you to be healthy as well when she sees you."

"Promise you'll do anything to save her."

"I promise."

This isn't good news as I carried the Alpha's daughter into the other room. The door opened; I looked behind me to see Nickolas standing by the door.
