Now that school was over Beatrice was invited to spend her summer vacation at her best friend's beach house,but she didn't expect her friend's brother to be there after finishing university .

I was happy to finally finish university and leave my responsibilities back to my hometown as summer break started. My best friend since in second grade,Maddox, invited me and my brother,Carter to her beach house like she did every year and I was really looking forward to it.
But this summer, our father was teaching Carter his strategies on how to run the family business , The Stepanov Enterprises, so it's no surprise to me how I am alone with my suitcases at Santa Monica's Airport waiting for Maddox to come pick me up.
Not a minute later, a steel blue 2020 Jeep Wrangler, still not in the market, stopped a meter away from me and a girl too pale for the tanned people around here came out.
"Sorry I'm late Beattie" Maddox apologized while hugging me tightly "The main roads were all closed since today is being held a charity in the city centre. "
"No worries , I've only been here for about 10 minutes ,you're not late Maddox."
We got my suitcases in the car and started driving to her house while passing through a breathtaking scenery . Since this time we didn't go the same road as always which was a lot shorter, we arrived at the beach house half an hour later at 18:30.
Maddox and I took my suitcases to the same room I stayed every year, the one with the king sized bed, big slider windows and a walk in closet where my clothes were left untouched. I had chosen this room 8 years ago and I loved it to this day.
Maddox's beach house is a two floored house in which my room was in the first floor , without a balcony but with free entry to the garden and the pool through my windows. There are two bedrooms in the first floor and the other one is Kai's, Maddox's brother,but it is rarely touched since he never bothered to come. The second floor has three rooms,one guest room where Carter usually stayed, Maddox's room and her parents room that wasn't used since they gave Maddox the house once she turned 18. There were two bathroom upstairs and one downstairs leaving the kitchen and the living room with a large and cozy space. The basement consisted of a gaming room and a cozy space that was used for videogames, make out spot for the boys and their flings or just for Netflix when you're bored .
I was midway finishing unpacking, after eating my Lucky Charms cereal and watching "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", when the doorbell rang. I got up to see who was at the door at 9:35 pm but Maddox was alreadyat the door . A huge smile spread over her face and she opened the door further revealing two boys.
Quickly I hid at the kitchen to get a better view from the glassdoor .

The two boys came in and I immediately recognized one of them, Kai, Maddox's brother. I was surprised to see him here after 3 long years. I really hoped he had unexpectedly died from unknown factors. He had made fun of me a lot while we grew up for how I looked and during middle school when I came over to their house he would trip me on purpose.
