Chapter 8: The Badge and The Burden | Part Two

"Gooo Weiss!" Yang yelled. 

"Fight well!" Blake also yelled while waving a flag that said: 'RWBY' on it.

"Yeah, represent teeeam RWBY!" Ruby yelled out.

"Ruby, I'm trying to focus." Weiss snapped at her. 

"Oh, sorry." Ruby said crestfallen

"Alright. Let the match, begin." Professor Port said, using his axe-shotgun to free the Grimm inside the cage. The Grimm growler and charges.

It had a boar-like appearance, two giant tusks with red designs decorated it's face. It ran at Weiss, but she dodged and hit it. The Grimm appeared to be unfazed by the attack. 

This somewhat concerned Weiss.

"Haha, wasn't expecting that were you?" Port said heartily.

Weiss launches forward, her sword facing the beast. Suddenly, the Grimm catches her sword with its large tusks. The two fight over the sword, with the Grimm throwing it out of reach when Weiss is distracted by Ruby.

The sword clinks away and Weiss is knocked back by the Grimm. Professor Port laughs, "Oho, now what will you do without your weapon?" The Boar-Grimm charges at Weiss, showing no intent of stopping. Weiss leaps out of the way and begins running to retrieve her sword.

"Weiss, go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-" Ruby begins to yell.

"Stop telling me what to do!"

Ruby stops and sits back, hurt from Weiss's outrage.

The Grimm starts rolling with incredible speed towards Weiss, immediately stopping when a glyph hits it.

Weiss does a backflip, and rushes down, stabbing the Grimm though the underside.

"Bravo! Braa-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true huntress in training. I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings and, stay vigilant. Class dismissed.

"Weiss!" Ruby yelled, stopping Weiss.

"What?" She asked irritably

"What's wrong with you? Why are you being-"

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader and all you've done so far is a nuisance."

Ruby scoffs, "What did I do?"

"That's just it! You've done nothing to earn your position. Back in the forest you acted like a child and you've only continued to do so."

"Weiss, where is this coming from?"

"I've studied, and trained, and quite frankly, I deserve better." Weiss said turning around. "Ozpin made a mistake." She finishes, walking away.

Ruby looks down for a moment.

"Hmm. Now that didn't seem to go very well." Ozpin says suddenly.

"Is she right? Did you make a mistake?" Ruby asks, dejected.

"That remains to be seen." Ozpin smirks.
