I pulled Dexter by his tie as his body towered over mine and the bed. I chuckled softly and let my hand travel from his chest to his neck. I looked into his soft eyes intently. He smiled and started kissing on my neck and down to my collarbone. Just as soon as he popped my shirt open, someone barged into the room.

"Mom? What are you-" Before I could finish my sentence, my mom cut through.

"What bastard are you doing to my daughter at her parents' house?! Have you no shame?!" I covered both my ears from her loud, intense yell. Dexter closed his eyes and covered his ears as well.

"Mom, it's not his fault. I dragged him here," I said.

"Do you know that Liam Price is coming over right now? I already told you to prepare yourself ever since this morning!"

"Ugh...what's so good about him?"

"He's going to be your husband soon, do I have to remind you again?"

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"That's right, it's your first time you're going to meet him. Tidy up your place and dress yourself up." My mom looked over to Dexter and shouted, "What are you looking at, you bum! Scram! Do you want me to call security?!"

Dexter quickly put on his shirt and ran out the door. I turned away from my mom and poured wine from the table into my fancy cup.

"Goodness gracious, you're 26 years old, Winter! What are you drinking for? Get your ass up and find appropriate clothes to wear. You need to make a good impression."

"Mom look-" I looked at my mom's displeasing face and sighed. "Fine, whatever."

"I'll be waiting downstairs."

"Mhm."

My mom walked out of the door as I stood up to find more "appropriate" clothes.

I walked down the marble stairs and found my mother standing in the living room, giving orders to our many maids. She had her hands on her hip and had red bold lipstick on. I looked around and found my little brother sitting in one of the white couches. I walked towards him and messed with his dark-brown hair.

"Will you stop that, Winter?" asked Dillon as he pushed my hand away.

"Nope, I just can't stop playing with your fluffy hair." I smiled and pinched his nose as he grunted. I then looked around and noticed something was off. I ask Dillon,

"Where's dad?"

"He said he had leftover work he wanted to finish before his break."

"Ah, I see. That's quite strange though, he usually never stay at work."

"Whatever he does we should appreciate it."

I smile and look at him play on his Nintendo switch. Yep, that was my intelligent fifteen-year-old brother. He's the only close friend I have. On the other side, I have an overly-protective mother and a hard-working father. I live my life according to what I believe and roam freely, casting men aside. Don't even start. Well, that life I had was going to be controlled by an arranged marriage I was forced into. Not just that, but the man I was going to marry was also going to marry my family's enemy's daughter. In a clearer sense, I and my enemy was put in an arranged marriage with one man. It's stupid, to be honest.

The doorbell rang as my mother sprayed perfume all over herself. I rolled my eyes and stayed behind her as she opened the door. Then, came through her high, welcoming voice,

"Welcome, Mr. Liam!" My mom shook hands with the so-called man, Liam. Behind the man was a beautiful woman with striking blue eyes and volumized blonde hair. Her white skin and slim body looked like the type to be in a runway show. My mom then asked,

"Who may this young lady be?"

"I'm Thomas Reed's eldest daughter, Flora Reed. I was told to come to greet your daughter," said the beautiful lady. I suddenly realized that she was our family's greatest enemy's daughter. I look at my mother's face which had turned pale and horrified.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" asked Liam.

"No, everything's fine. I was just very surprised to meet Ms. Flora. Anyways, come in."

Liam walked in with Flora as I followed behind, then I sat in the white couch across from both of them. I took a good look at Liam, the man I was going to marry. I smirked at his good features and cupped my mouth from letting it be shown. He had blue piercing eyes, brown hair with a classy pompadour hairstyle, symmetrical brows, a chiseled jaw, a perfect smile with dimples, and a built body. He was my type. I thought this is going to be fun.

I then looked over to Flora, my family's greatest enemy. She was smiling, talking with my mother and seemed to be enjoying the tea the maids brought. My attention went back to Liam as he asked,

"So, who is this?" He gestured his hand towards me and looked at me. I answer,

"Do you know that my mother only has two kids and that is me and my younger brother?" Oops, that slipped out of my damn mouth.

"Winter, I told you to make a good impression!" out came the obvious loud whisper from my mom. I sighed and corrected myself,

"I apologize, I didn't mean to make it sound that imprudent."

"I know that you and your brother are the only offspring. I just didn't expect you to be Ms. White's daughter. You see, there are many maids here who could've been Ms. White's daughter," said Liam. The adrenaline inside my body kicked in. Oooh, this is going to be so, so fun.

"Are you trying to imply that I am one of those maids?"

"Well aren't you? Your looks, your language, your actions, your attitude, and what? Your occupation as a waitress?"

"What?"

"And since you didn't care about the marriage, I bet you didn't even know who your soon-to-be husband's identity was. That's quite a disappointment. I took most of my time to research about you and your life. Seems like that went to waste." Anger burst through my lungs as I shot back,

"Wow, that's very nice of you, but I guess your hard work really did go to waste. Sorry I wasn't who you expected to be, so I hope you can throw all that research away. At least I didn't waste my time on a stranger, unlike someone-"

SPLASH

I slightly drop my mouth to the water thrown at my face. I looked down at my lap as water dripped from my chin. Then, I looked at my mother who was holding the empty cup.

"Go back to your bedroom now," demanded my mother.

"Why? We were just conversing," I said.

"Go now."

"Mom, look, he humiliated me for being a waitress. Are you that blind to see?"

SLAP!

A slap went across my face. Liam and Flora stood up to the sudden slap. It tingled and burned.

"Winter, listen to yourself. What Mr. Liam said was right."

I was so furious my eyes began to blur. I strutted out the house entrance and went to a place where I knew would help me relieve stress the most.

"Ms. White, I'm sorry. I was the one who caused the fight," said Liam.

"No, what you said was true. It's not your fault," said Ms. White.
