Luann stood up and took a deep breath. "Jerry, take her to the lounge area.. we will finish this tomorrow. "

I stared at my hookah pen, the grape wafted to my nose. I inhaled again and released it through my nose... again and again. Pretending it was the horrid memories being released from my mind.

"Should I cuff her?" Jerry asked.

"No, she's fine, just make sure she is equipped for the night." Luann said walking out.

I flinched and turned around. "I have to stay the night!?"

"Yes, only because we need your story, however, if we release you and something happens then we can't get the full truth." Luann said shutting the door.

I looked at Jerry and he shrugged reaching into his pocket and pulling out the other pens. "I'm not supposed to let you have these. But I'm on night watch for the lounge."

He slid them across the table to me. I looked at the different flavors. Peach, Watermelon, Blueberry mint, and piña colada. I smiled "thanks, where's Christi?"

Jerry smiled "She's in the lounge too."

I grinned to myself, knowing that she was safe and away from Jeanie calmed me. I fallowed Jerry down the hallway and went to a door labeled as lounge.

He motioned me inside "I'll be in that office over there for the whole night." He pointed to an office across the hallway. "There is a call button on the wall for if you need me. Feel free to use it as much as you need."

He turned around and left as I entered into the room.

"Anne!" I heard a high pitch squeel.

I smiled and looked at the young child who bounced up right next to me. Her curly shoulder length blonde hair was still matted. Her blue eyes were dull but still had that small delicate light that always comes with the eyes of children.

"Come on Christi," I said reaching into a small basket of things obtaining a brush. "Let's fix that hair."

The moon light reflected off of the puddles in the street. Luann focused on her burning cigarette, watching it fall like rains of fire. She stood outside of the conveience store, watching her car being filled up the gas. Her back against the cold brick wall, as the store clerk watches like a hawk.

She rolled her eyes. If she wanted to steal something it would be from a bank. Not some middle of nowhere store that pocketed only 78 dollars per day. Besides, she already payed the asshole.

She heard the ding of the gas pump telling her that her car was filled. It was a once in awhile thing where she could actually top off her car. All the over time she has been working drove her crazy. She barley affords gas since her rent is exspensive and her husband was just a drunk.

She sighed to herself, she could be gone and no one would care. Not even Jerry, her best friend ever since recruit class. He had it made for him, nice car, a spouse that doesn't drink their ass off, and three lovley children. The envy of him rose in her, but only to be put down about how she had a chance to be his.

Luann and Jerry had a relationship, but she left him for Adam. A man who seemed decent at first, liked to have some scotch on the rocks in the evening, and pay every amount of attention to Luann. Sadly, one event ruined it all.

They tried for a child, and they had made one, but it as lost. Something as much as an easy task, was rejected by her body. It would have been okay if it wasn't for the doctor assuring that they will run into this issue everytime. It hit both of them hard. He picked up the bottle while she picked up the work. It pissed her off to hear Ann's stories about how her mother was so abusive.

In only about 5 hours, she grew attached to Ann.

Luann felt tears brim her eyes. No one cared about her, She climbed into her car and started it, turning out of the gas station. She couldn't focus, she blarred the radio and sped up her car. She just wanted to go to home, and go to sleep.

After a five minute drive of recklessness she reached her apartment. Locking her car and walking to her front door, She opened the door, looking to see such familiar sights. Adam passed out with the bottle of whiskey latched to his finger tips. She took the bottle from Adam and walked to her room.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, she sipped out of the bottle. The burn down her throat battled the emptyness in her heart. It as like trying to light a furnance with no coal. Tears streamed down her face. She layed back in her bed, and started singing her favorite song.

"Under the willow tree lays the one. Her smile so bright, she swallows the sun. But with one little blow, she turned cold as snow. Now the tree is wilted like bones."

She sang the verse over and over, choking in her tears. until she lulled herself to sleep.
