He's in front of a lake, and just beyond was the castle of Savonia. Jeongguk inhales the breeze that comes along with the cold and tips forward on his toes.

He breathes out and looks beside him.

Possibly more than a foot away was a man (that looked korean) that wore a long plaid yellow coat and a white turtleneck underneath. The man stares at the water with longing, Jeongguk wonders what he could've been thinking of.

He inches closer and says, "Hi! What brings you here?"

There was a look of confusion that quickly turns into shock before the man's face settles to passive instead.

Jeongguk never sees it, and wonders if his english was actually understandable – and by the way, he knows it is, it's supposed to be when he's studying in England.

He frowns to himself, opens his mouth to try again but—

"Don't worry I understand you." The man is quick to say, tone flat and wait – korean?

"Ah," Jeongguk chuckles. "You're korean too I presume?"

He's rusty, and had never spoken korean in the last 2 years.

It was like testing the words once again on his tongue and wondering if they feel...right – no, they felt right, just odd. He inwardly makes a face.

"I was from Daegu," The stranger looks at the water again, and if Jeongguk keeps staring he would've know by then how to draw him.

The man's hair falls just a little bit lower than his brows, and the other parted to the side. Jeongguk looks away.

"The castle, it's beautiful right?"

Stranger man shakes his head, murmurs, "I've seen better."

He tries (again) not to let his lips curl in disappointment.

Because well – rude.

"They don't make castles like this in Korea." Jeongguk softly says, casting his gaze on the rocks.

The man shrugs, "But they don't make kingdoms like we do either."

And for once studying Europe's history paid off as he says, not mockingly, "Europe has conquered more than Korea ever had."

"Well duh," The man chuckles and then looks up before looking at Jeongguk who just in time, turns his head to face the man. "But I wasn't talking about that."

They meet gazes. Jeongguk doesn't speak any longer, finding himself stumped. The man speaks first,

"I'm Kim Taehyung, by the way." He introduces himself, corners of his lips tugging upwards.

Jeongguk's heart feels lighter when he says, "I'm Jeon Jeongguk."

He was always warned to expect the cold, but never to expect meeting him.
