Neil's POV
When we got back from the hospital, Gwen started acting a little weird around me. What of she doesn't actually approve of Max and I? I mean, she is the type of person to fake feelings.
I went to bed that night, thinking about it. What if she really is just faking it? Ughh, people fucking suck.Gwen's POV
"David, I think I fucked up." I said, as I came into the Councilor's Cabin.
"Well, don't say that, Gwen. I bet it was just a little thing. We can fix it up tomorrow, right?" He said, tilting his head at me.
"No. I feel like Neil's angry at me. Whenever I walk anywhere around him, he just leaves."
"Was there anything you could've said earlier to irk him?"
After he suggested that, I couldn't help but pace around. I want to tell David about teasing Neil, but I want to keep it a secret. Especially from David.
"Gwen? You okay?" He got up and hugged me.
"I just can't help but think I messed up, David." I told him and he held me closer.
David leaned in a bit as he kissed me.
"Everything's going to be okay, Gwen. I just know it."I sighed. "I know. I'm just..." My words trailed off as I sat at the desk.
"Maybe the right thing to do now, Gwen, is to go talk to him. You should try to figure this all out with him." David reasoned out.
I got up again, paced around, and eventually, "You know what? I'm going. I'm going to set this right." I said as David cheered me on.When I got to Neil's tent, I paced again.
"Gwen?"
His tiny voice startled me as I stopped.
"What're you doing?"
I faced his direction, and inhaled.
"I'm sorry."
"What?" The boy squinted at me.
"I-oh... -"
"Are you okay, Gwen?"
"I... feel like I messed up with you."
"What are you talking about?"
"You were kinda acting like you were pissed off at me, and I think I said something wrong back at the hospital."
Neil stared at me, squinting again.
"..." The boy stared still. "Well, of fucking course you said something wrong!! Max and I are not together, so you need to shut up about it, and anything you saw never fucking happened, okay?!" Neil yelled, causing me to flinch very slightly.
"Neil?" I held back a few tears.
"What?" He sighed, looking into my soul with the admittedly best resting bitch face I've seen.
"I just came to apologize, no need to yell, or anything, I-" I stopped myself from finishing, because I think I saw tears forming at Neil's eyes.
"Nothing happened here, or there, and none of it happened." He wiped his eye a bit, and looked away from me.
We sat in silence, waiting for something to happen.
"I miss him." Was all Neil said as he turned and went back into his tent.A little broken down, I walked back to the Cabin. And broke down crying.
"Gwen? What happened?" David immediately came to me, and helped me up.
"I tried. I tried to apologize, but I got yelled at by an eleven year old, instead."
David gave me a sympathetic look. "What did he tell you?"
I sniffled, and wiped a couple tears away. "He didn't tell me anything to make me cry, I just....he said he misses Max."
"Come here." He took me in and hugged me. "We all miss him. It's okay. He'll come back. Don't worry, Gwen."
"He kept saying nothing happened.""What?"
I. Just. Fucked. Up.
"Nothing. He said nothing happened right then and he went back in his tent." Saved it.
"O-oh."David and I went to bed, hoping the next day will be better.
