Chapter 9

The huge palace gates were opened by two guards to all the entry of Anushka had Raju.

She brought along a few of her belongings from the house, they were most of the new clothes her aunt bought for her and a few personal ones.

Upon entering, they met Ratava.
"Anushkaaaa..." She called out approaching them.
"Ratava, how are you?"
"Honored to meet you again Anushka."
They exchanged a few pleasantries as Anushka chipped in a brief introduction of Raju to Ratava.

"Nice to meet you Raju" Then turning to Anushka she added, " I've already prepared your room. I used all morning for that and I just finished. Come on, I'll take you there." She lead the way as they followed.

That afternoon, Anushka settled in her new room. It was so beautiful and comfortable.

"Wow Anushka, it looks like you've moved from earth to heaven." Raju complimented after wholely scanning through the room with glitter in his eyes.

"Stop exaggerating the place Raju. This place is very beautiful but can't be compared to heaven, you know that." She corrected packing her clothes into a huge beautifully designed wardrobe.

Just then, they heard a knock at the door and Anushka went to open it to let the prince inside.

"Hello there. Anushka, you already here, great. I just met Ratava and she informed me of your arrival. And..... who is he? Your boyfriend?" Jamir probed looking glumly at Raju.

"Haha my boyfriend? You're very funny. Jamir meet my best buddy Raju Ranchoddas and Raju meet the prince, Jamir Akbar Navad." She introduced.

"It... It's n.. nice to meet you my prince. I'm honored." Raju was clearly fumbling with the words as he accepted a cordial handshake from Jamir.

"Anushka what's up with your friend? Haven't he worked before? His palm is as soft as a baby's. Haha I can see he's a scaredy guy." Jamir remarked and gave him a slight scare that Raju slightly shook with fright.

"Poor Raju, he's just not used to this place. You know, coming into this huge palace and meeting you the prince of Ilabuhab in person is quite new to him, even me. He's a nice guy." Anushka defended.

"Well, does my father knows that you've moved in?"

"Oh ummm not sure but I'll go and see him to inform him about it later."

"Okay sure. Raju right? Can I take your best buddy away for a while?" Jamir chipped in.

Raju who was not sure that question was actually for him or not, didn't know whether to answer or not.

"Raju, it's you I'm talking to."

"Okay umm yeah you can take her away for as long as you want. I can't prevent you from doing that." He said quite nervously.

"But I can't leave you here. What will you do in this huge palace all by yourself huh?" Anushka probed.
"Um you don't have to worry about me Anushka. I'm a man and I can handle things myself. I'm not a kid, remember?" He said defensively.

"Yeah sure, a man who is scared to hold a sword. That's real bravery and you seem to get nervous when Jamir is around. Ha! Such a brave young man I have for a friend haha!" Anushka teased.

"Hey, do not underestimate the bravery of Raju Ranchoddas. Do you know all the things I've done for my family? I cook, clean the house and... and ..."

"Will you stop right there buddy. So you call performing house chores man bravery? Haha Raju, you never seize to make me laugh ha!"

"Hmph! Anushka don't make fun of me. You can ask your darling prince over there if he even knows how to... to... clean his shoes. Ask him if he's ever been to the kitchen even once." He argued.
