My hands are clammy and the ball in my stomach is made of led. Looking at my lap, I notice that my hands are shaking. Logan squeezes me lightly and I look up at him. He smiles warmly and I know he's got my back.
I have a good and loving relationship with my brother's, but I'm the baby in the family, so I have no idea how they will react to this. Especially because of the complications with the father.
"Band-Aid... just like Band-Aid," I murmur to myself, looking up at my brothers. "I'm twelve weeks pregnant."
Dean coughs looking at my stomach, Dante's brow furrow in a frown while Zach's eyes got as big as saucers.
"Congratulations." Zach is the first one to speak up, but nothing follows it.
Dante's frown deepens while I see Dean's wheels start to spin. Dean nudges Zach and stands, then starts to pace.
"Whose is it?" Dean asks sternly.
Shit! Here it goes.
I look at my lap, with the lump in my throat.
"It's mine," Logan speaks up in the tone matching Dean's. "You have a problem with that?"
"Yours?!"
I shake my head. Why is he doing this?
"Logan," I say quietly.
"Mine," Logan answers, standing up.
"You fucking knocked up my baby sister without even putting a ring on her finger?" Dean shouts at Logan.
"Dean!" Logan's tone holds a warning.
"You fucked up her future because you couldn't keep it in your pants?"
In two strides, Logan is in front of my brother, his fist slamming in my brother's face. Then he takes two steps back.
"You fucking watch your mouth." Logan points a finger at Dean. "Sorry, Zach," he adds as an afterthought. I look at Zach who's already at the threshold of the room, clearly distressed about the shouting and aggression.
"Zach, honey, why don't you make me some tea? I think I'm a bit nauseous," I say in a pleading voice. That gets Zach's attention. I know Zach well, and I know that his need to look after his loved ones sometimes seems to be the only thing overriding his fears of violence.
He nods his head and scrambles to the kitchen, while Logan and Dean are having their caveman stare down.
I look at Dante, and he looks sad. His eyes are pitiful as he looks back at me. This is one of the reasons I didn't want to tell them. The pity.
"Sit the fuck down and apologize to your sister before I have to break your nose for talking shit about the baby. The baby isn't fucking up anything, the baby is a blessing. You stupid fucker," Logan growls, then turns to me. I can see in his expression that it's better if I stay silent. Just like with Rickey, this isn't the time or place to argue with him.
"I'm going to apologize to Zach," Logan says, passing by in the direction of the kitchen.
"Get some ice for my brother too." I smile faintly. "Maybe it's a good thing you didn't bring your club along, after all," I joke to lighten up the mood.
Logan stops, turns around, and comes back. Kneeling in front of me, he quickly presses the kiss on my forehead.
"Sorry that I hit your brother." He smiles at me and stands.
"He did deserve that." I glare playfully in Dean's direction.
"I'm sorry about what I said," Dean grumbles. "Congratulations, by the way."
