My dad looks angry. And if he's not using his poker face, it means he's really angry.
"I want the name of that dipshit. And I want your shotgun." He points at Logan, who's sitting next to me on the couch.
"That might not be smart, Eric," Logan says with a small head-shake.
So far, I told my parents that I was in a minor car accident yesterday, which was received with mild concern. That I stayed the night at the hospital, which gained a bit more concern. When I added that it was because I'm pregnant, I could see the emotions wearied from concern, happiness, and confusion. And after the fact that the father doesn't want the baby, my mom got sad but Dad went a bit ballistic.
"I'm going to beat the shit out of him, anyway. I don't need a shotgun." Dad stands from his place on my other side on the couch and starts to pace.
"Congratulations, sweetie." My mom smiles at me.
"Thank you." I smile back.
"I'm not mad at you, baby girl. I love you and the baby, and I'm happy that I'm going to be a grandpa. But I really want to beat the jerk's ass for turning away from you and his own child," my dad says outraged, turning to me he smiles briefly but continues to pace.
"Well, it might be for better that he doesn't want the baby. Daisy and I have talked and sorted some things out between us, and we agreed to start dating and that when the baby is born I will adopt him or her as a step-parent. And Rickey the Pencil-Dick, sorry Karen." Logan smiles at my mom, who just shrugs. "Will go to court and give up his parental rights."
My dad nods his head approvingly, while I inwardly cringe. I'm not sure how that will go, but we still have time.
"Have you met him?" Dad asks Logan with narrowed eyes.
"Yeah, once."
"Did you at least beat him?" My dad actually looks hopeful.
Wow, this is a new side of Dad.
"No," Logan answers.
"Why, the hell not?"
"Eric," Mom says a bit exasperated.
Ignoring Mom, Dad continues to look at Logan.
"First of all, Daisy was with me. Second, we need him cooperating with us, so he doesn't decide to go after Daisy's baby, it's better for now if we don't touch him," Logan explains calmly and I can see my dad's anger deflating.
Too late. He already went after me and my baby, but I can't tell that to Logan. He will do something stupid and I don't want to put him in any danger. Rickey's words spin in my head about an alleyway and Logan. I shake my head mentally and scoot closer to Logan, wanting his arms on me.
"You're right." Dad nods and sits back down next to me. "I'm going to be a grandpa. That's cool." Dad smiles at me. "Have you told your brothers?"
"Yeah, I did. But, as far as Dean knows, the baby is Logan's, but Dante put two and two together quickly."
"How did Dean take it?" Mom smirks at me.
"Like typical Dean."
Dad looks from me to Logan and seemingly studies him for a moment.
"The black eye." Is all my dad says and Logan shrugs.
"He said some shitty things, and I set him straight."
"With fists?" Mom speaks up looking amused.
"He probably deserved that," Dad adds. "He's too emotional to be rational."
