TWENTY YEARS LATER

Unknown to the girls, Aryan got back home from his latest trip a day prior to his expected arrival, wanting to surprise them. Racing up the stairs two at a time, he searched everywhere for his two favourite girls. Finally, he found them: the mother blushing beet red as she recounted a tale to an avid listener. Perplexed at the way they both were so engrossed in the tale, that neither looked up or even realised his arrival, Aryan stood listening to their conversation for about 10 seconds, when he realised what had gotten his daughter gripped.

"Nooooooo!! Stop right there," he shouted.

"Aryan! Oh my goodness. What are you doing here? We didn't expect you until the end of the week! And what's got you screaming at the top of your voice?" Samaira asked bewildered.

"Do you really want to tell our daughter the rest of our love story? She's just sixteen for heavens sake! We shouldn't be filling her head with any ideas! I'm surprised that you even got so far into the story Chocolate!" said Aryan, his voice an octave lower, but still quite agitated.

"Don't worry Drink Boy, Vedika is old enough to hear it. She too should know how to stay away from playboys and wait for the one who really loves her. Besides, with her brothers away, who will protect your Princess?" chuckled Samaira.

"No, my Love, if you let me have my way, forget dating, she'll not be meeting boys any time soon...maybe when she's 50, yes I think that's a good age," said Aryan.

"....But Papa, that's not fair!" mumbled Vedika! "Both Aaryaveer and Rajveer have girlfriends - and they're my age!!"

Samaira piped in "Sweetheart, really... I think you've gotten old. I need to remind you what it's like to be young again."

Muttering under his breath, Aryan followed Samaira as she pulled him into their bedroom and continued where they had left off in that airplane, 20 years ago.

Next morning, on their 18th Wedding Anniversary, Samaira and Aryan woke up to a delicious breakfast spread served on a beautifully decorated tray. Samaira chuckled as she found a scribbled note under the kettle as she picked it up.

"3:00 pm at the waterfall in our secret trail Mommy...I can't wait to hear the rest of your love story! XOXO, V"
