My Future
I still remember that day: the day that Louis and Harry officially came out to the world. It was very casual since they knew that the internet would make a huge fuss of it no matter how low-key they tried to keep it. All the two of them did was share the exact same Instagram story of the two of them together saying "we're dating" or at least something along the lines of that. It has been so many years ago that I've forgotten all the little details of the whole ordeal.

However, I do remember freaking out with many other Larries, screaming into my pillow, crying because love as pure as their's was real, and smiling like a fool all week. It all died down eventually as they became just another couple. At first I kept tabs on them for weeks—more like months. I checked all my social media pretty much every hour and kept up with as many update accounts as possible. Life moved on, however, and I went to college, got a job, got married, had kids who therefore gave me the grandchildren that I am babysitting today. My grandson is 13, and my granddaughter is 11.

"Grandma," my eldest grandchild said as he was eating his lunch, "what are you smiling about?"

I was so lost in my thoughts and reminiscing memories that I almost forgot they were here. "I was just thinking of a couple that I was obsessed with when I was younger." I said. However, he, along with my younger granddaughter, were not content with that response.

"Who?" They asked unison.

With a warm smile I replied, "Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles."

Both of my grandchildren seemed to recognize the names. "Wait," said my granddaughter, "aren't they really old now."

"Yes," I replied, "but they're not that much older than me and they're still together to this day."

"What's so special about them?" My grandson asked, "They are together and there is never any drama going on with them. Well," he paused, "unless it has something with that band they were in. What's it called again?"

A frown fell upon my face, "One Direction is the name of 'that band' and you should know that they are my favorite." I said now rather angry with my grandchildren. "And also," I continued, "they were not out to the public when I was younger so I, along with many other people out there analyzed their every move in hopes of them being together." A sheepish look came about my face and my eyes crinkled, "Though, now that I think about it, we were all crazy stans that probably should have left them alone to figure things out for themselves."

My granddaughter's face was beaming, "Granny!" She said, "I didn't know you knew all the... erm... current terms."

"Well," I said in reply, "some slang words existed in my time too, you know. Now gather around, kids. I'm going to tell you the story of Larry."

The two of them groaned and said simultaneously, "We're not kids anymore." However, they followed my instructions and sat on the couch opposite of me.

"Wait!" I exclaimed. I quickly darted out of my seat to the closet at the end of the hall. I dug through the boxes I knew so familiarly and pulled out the first Larry binder I made. Proud of myself, I slowly made my way back to the living room.

I plopped myself down in my seat and opened the binder to the first page. "Now," I began, "it all started when Harry and Louis went to same concert in 2009. . ."

Thank you all for reading this short story. It's just over 600 words, but holds so much meaning. I'm sure all of us reading know this will be our future. We're all going to old grandmas or grandpas and still telling stories to our grandchildren about Larry. Sorry I haven't been updating on the boys lately. I've been really busy since school is back in session. Updates will no longer be consistent, but I think that I'm going to start writing more short stories. I do have one update: there has been a T.V. commercial that said that "Falling" is the new single by Harry Styles and I'm so excited for it. Have a wonderful week!
