ILLUSIONAL REGRETS

As promised Chanyeol came to pick Baekhyun for shopping, as he was leaving for Germany in five days, he brought so much stuff and it was indeed a tiring trip around the huge mall. When Baek was done buying everything he needed, they sat at the cafe to have some evening coffee.

"So, you are really leaving," Chanyeol said aimlessly stirring his coffee.

"I told you I have to. It's hard to get into such a great university and I can't let go of this chance," he answered and took a sip of his drink as he ended his sentence.

"I. I understand, but." he was stumbling over his words struggling to bring up what he wanted to ask. "fine, I'll put it straight." he was never the one to be cloudy with the words. "Do you really like me?" though that question sounded stupid after what has happened the other day, Chanyeol couldn't help bringing it up because Baekhyun was behaving as if nothing special happened last night.

"You really want to do this?"

"Do what?"

"Us. Are you really okay with us being in relation?" Chanyeol couldn't see the point in what Baekhyun was questioning.

"Are you nuts Baek! why do you think I confessed last night? To get you on my bed? Is that how you see me?" he was losing his patience as sadness took the dominance.

"No, not at all. I really like you." Baek was equally hurt to hear those words. "But." he sighed and remain silent struggling to voice his thoughts.

"But what?" Chanyeol was slowly drifting towards anger from sadness, "I've told you I'm not lying when I said, I like you in a way different from the others and that is what I decided to name as love, but you still think I'm playing around!"

"Chanyeol, calm down. I never said I don't trust you. I believe you; I truly do." it was time for Baekhyun to open up totally cause this play of hesitation is not going to take them anywhere. Taking a deep breath, he started, "you know what, I've fallen for you way before you even liked me." Chanyeol deeply adored that genuine smile dancing on his puppy's lips. "I still remember what you told me when I was struggling to get control over my acting, you told me to get into the character. Many people have advised me the same but," The giant was happy to know that Baekhyun remembers every little thing he said but he couldn't make up to the reason for him to bring those words up. "but no one has ever told me, get into the Character but never stay there after the key light goes off. No one warned me with the second line. No one ever completed their sentence, not even you." Chanyeol couldn't figure out what he was trying to say and decided to stay quiet until Baekhyun makes his point clear, "Unaware, I let my heart get swayed away even by the little giggles of yours and now I find myself flung too close to you and the way back seems endless and hopeless."

"Why do you have to go away when you can choose to stay." Chanyeol was worried about the way Baekhyun's thoughts were running.

"Come on Chanyeol, you know we can't be together. It's not possible." the giant felt immense sadness hearing those words but it was Baek who got hurt the most.

"what do you mean it's not possible?"

"Will your acting remain unchanged even with you being in a serious relationship. Will your reputation remain the same? Will your chances of getting into new works won't fall thin?" Baekhyun was giving his best to let the giant understand his thoughts.

"Well, it might get affected a little, but-"

"See, I don't want to be a pit in your path. I see a glowing future for you in this field and I don't want that shiny sight to fade away because of me."
