"What?" Peter spoke, glancing sideways as he drove, seeing the redhead beside him looking at him continuously. "What is it?"
"The roof retracts, right?"
He rolled his eyes, humoured as he reached for the button.
"Happy?"
"Yes!" She spoke, clearly so as she watched the roof retract before turning back to London passing by.
"So, they're your favourite car?" The King spoke, unsure whether Lilith was actually content with watching what passed her in silence or had simply ran out of conversation, which would've been unusual for her.
"Hm? Oh! Not really." She decided, settling back in her seat from where she'd half been turned back. "I prefer older ones, vintage-y. Not that I know a toss about cars. You must though, that garage was huge!"
Peter chuckled, "I don't know much either. They were my Dad's. Ed nor I care much for them, it's not like we're usually the ones driving, anyway."
"Posh twat."
The King gave her a sideways glance, "You live in a palace, too."
"I work in a palace and live, technically, in a palace basement. And I don't have a driver." She replied, testily.
He shrugged, "Basically the same thing."
She rolled her eyes but, after a few moments, spoke once more, "Were you and your D- King Frank close?"
"Not so much." Peter replied after a pause, eyes on the road ahead, "He wanted us to be closer, but I was always a bit of a Mummy's boy." He admitted, glancing sideways to see the redhead cast him an amused, seemingly fond look. His eyes were swiftly back on the road, or they wouldn't have been on her for much longer.
"That's sweet."
"Hm. Ed was closer to Dad. They'd sit and read for hours together in the library."
"Explains a lot, from what you've told me about Edmund, and from what I've seen."
"That my brother's a complete bookworm?"
"That he's more well-read than you."
"I read! Sometimes."
"Read what?"
"Paperwork."
"That doesn't count."
"And YOU'RE an avid book reader?"
"I don't have time." She replied pointedly before drawing her eyes from the High King for the first time in far too long and looking back out the window.
"We're not far, are we?"
"No, just a few streets away."
"Fancy placing bets on your brother, England's more well-read King, being longer than half an hour late?"
"You shouldn't place bets on a King's punctuality."
"Why not?" She queried, flicking on the radio switch which was immediately switched back off as he glanced sideways at her, unimpressed.
Yet his glance turned into a longer look as they pulled up at traffic lights, a look in his eye that made Lilith forget how to breathe for a second.
"Because we're always late."
"Then I'll place the bet he's late." She challenged back.
"And I'll refuse to accept."
"Scared you'll lose?"
