Girls were loitering all over the aquarium. It was their day to look at the fish and even cleaning the room that hosted several phases full of water and fish that had been bred to withstand the hard life that came with beautifying the aquarium.
Jessica was among the cleaning team but today she wasn't lively as she used to be. "Hey Jess why are you so sulky and gloomy today?" Her friend asked. She didn't seem to hear her. Instead she continued scrubbing the floor silently.
She was never this way. Something was eating her deep inside but she didn't want to confide in anyone. Their three years stay at the camp was almost over and she had nowhere to go back to. Her husband had remarried while she undertook the training. Her mother had flown and cut off any possible conversation with her.
With her brother and father dead she was alone in the world. She didn't want to go and leave this newly found heaven. It was at this camp that she learnt to hope and pray. It was here she had friends and this was the only place she could eat without knowledge of the food prices. Oh lord why did such a beautiful soul have to undergo so much pain.
She stopped scrubbing the floor and looked outside. She saw his shadow first before his face. Jeremy was her best friend here. She was always with him. They weren't intimate but he couldn't intimidate her and that made them match as a couple but they weren't dating.
"Hey boyfriend, wait for me lets go for tea across the road." She shouted at him. He smiled at her and opened his arms widely. She ran up to her and hugged him with his head resting and brushing his chest briefly. He looked into her eyes as if intending to kiss her then blushed.
Jeremy always wished this lady was his . Jessy as many called her was his dream woman. She had been married before but now she wasn't. He had never married but whenever thoughts of marriage came into his mind, her image crossed his mind. He held her right hand and they crossed to 'wamucu's cafe . He could feel she wasn't fine but since she was silent he couldn't guess what was wrong.
She added a little sugar to his tea before handing it to him. This had been a culture they kept and everyone was now copying it as a romantic sign."Boy, tomorrow am leaving this camp. My course training is over and the grace period offered is too small so all I can tell you is goodbye take care one day we shall meet. I got no address and no specific place to go but Darling I shall be OK." She took off her silver jade and gave it to him and in tears she walked out leaving him seated and confused.
He came to senses and followed her out but she was nowhere
Annabel was not feeling well .She kept looking at the walls that separated her from freedom and wondered why she had to spend one more year at the mission while she could just go hone and be a Sabbath school teacher. Depressed she switched off her lights and slept with several thoughts of how she had lost feelings for her boyfriend the previous year and now badly wanted him.
Juma her boyfriend had tried hard to contact him. He struggled with fitting into her tight fixture and later gave up on her. She was happy to have gotten rid of him. She didn't seem to like any love commitments anymore. Now her ex boyfriend was married to a nurse. She received the information last month and this is what aroused her feelings even more.
How on earth could this soft spoken boy get married?when they first met he was shy and naive. in fact its not him that seduced her ,Thomson his cousin did,he had explained to him his intentions towards her before Thomson relayed this to the now worried Annabel. She was remembering all this with tears flowing down her eyes. Thomson had gone ahead to borrow Juma his clothes and cologne so that he could show up on their first date looking nice and smelling wonderful.
World cup was at group stages when they met. He almost fell several times by tripping on the long kikuyu grass that was growing on the famous Jevanjee gardens.she was wearing a long kitenge dress. Her makeup although done by an armature was on point. she wasn't intending to love this poor naive boy. He turned out looking all nice and instead of appearing shy and naive he smiled broadly and caught the attention of almost all the girls here.
