There was no one in the office that afternoon except Angela and her purring cat that didn't stay any minute awake. She locked the other doors to prevent un necessary attention from the people along the famous avenue. Since she was six she had worked in this office but at different posts.
She looked up and saw her dead parent's black and white photo now prestigiously framed and hung on her office. Her head wandered away back into the dark night when an unknown investor had walked into their gate and claimed their three acre piece of land. Her father being a retired police officer couldn't give in such easily so the man took out a gun and shot him on the forehead.
The man walked into the kitchen shot at her mother twice before walking away. She had been spared by the Grace because she was standing next to the television stand. Maybe she became invisible. Days later they were buried and her father's relatives did not want to take custody of her so she sailed into the cruel streets to face the damned world.
Angela wanted to become a detective so that one day she could get to know her parents hunter. All this dreams were invalid until one day a short big bellied man lost his wallet and she helped him to retrace him. This man took her to his family and it was here she started schooling and even took their family name. It was this man that used to work at this office years ago. He used to work as a petty crime officer.
Mr Isoe, discovered the interest in her of becoming a detective and started training her to become more than the normal detectives.Although she had never narrated to him that she witnessed her parents death, she was always alone and sulking and this made her a more competent persom for a private and sinister detective.
She started by the simple tasks of learning different languages. She was even more fluent in French and even better than her immediate boss teacher and parent. Her first mission came and she was even more ready for it. It was spying and informing her "dad" about two neighbours that had moved in and were acting suspicious.
You may think that she was too young to know evil but she was too smart than the paid detectives of her step father's company.
As years advanced she became smarter and even more intelligent and rose ranks. She soon found herself sitting on the deputy director's seat. At nineteen she was able to crack a mystery that was surrounding a disastrous murder of a top government official that claimed more than seventy lives.
She was promoted immediately her step father died and here she was. Dennis came into her life three years ago. On love matters she was naive. Dennis was not like most of us. He was ready to teach her and also guide her through the episodes.
They met at a local men's conference and she was there on mission. There were claims that the government had spent and swindled money through the project and she was sent to break the mystery.
Mr isoe was not easy to convince as he received the information of her falling in love. He had warned her severally about falling in love on mission. He was not ready for any leakages and thus warned her never to disclose her nature of job.
Mrs Isoe was happy that her adopted daughter would soon learn to love and also find her own home. Unknown to them Dennis Nyabuti was a secret detective too and was working for the biggest detective firm ever run in Bananaland. Their union and bond grew fast and soon she moved to his house.
She recalled how she started sneaking out of the house to do her investigations and soon they were all over arguing. She thought of letting go of this union as they weren't legally married. On the night she was to break this message to her spouse, she was sent to investigate the deputy governor and had to postpone.
That night, she instead chose to investigate her husband too. During the investigation she noticed truth must always set people free. When she returned home the next day she asked her fiance for forgiveness and then decided to break the bulky information on her job and why she always sneaked out of her house without his consent.
Dennis already knew all the information but was grateful she had chosen to come out clear. They renewed their love the African way with tots of whisky and uncontrolled sex. The following month they approached their parents on the matter of wedding.
Mr Isoe too had investigated his soon to be son in law. He was convinced beyond doubt that they were going to be compatible. He smiled and blessed them the way any happy father could and set the wedding bells ringing.
Dennis father Mr Nyabuti was ignorant at first because he wanted him to marry his choice of woman. But soon he accepted defeat and chose to go and see Angela's father. They chewed cola nut and drunk beer in celebration. Having concurred on the matter of their children's marriage.
The traditional wedding was held that week and all that was now being focused on was their church wedding that had been scheduled for the end of the year. On the fifteenth of December they married and even moved into a bigger house.
She has been reluctant on the matter of having a child as she thought that it was too soon and that this child would hinder her from performing her duties as a detective. She was now not going to stop herself from getting pregnant as Dennis had proved himself and that she had a new mission that required a pregnant beautiful lady.
She thought of hiring a prostitute but due to the nature of the job,she ignored this and was now thinking of doing it alone. She had already declared war on the unknown killers of her parents. This was the only secret she had never told her husband.
