After their evening meal the boys decided to sleep while each one of them took turns to guard their prisoner. The night was chilly but as usual they had carried their fluffy cotton stuffed sleeping bags that looked more of body bags than the former.
Nelion was not yet ready to sleep at such a dark deserted place,so he started checking for nearby places where he could relax have fun with some random women before coming to continue his mission the next day. He fished out several paper maps and started reading and interpreting them under the tiny light penetrating into the clearing from the mighty skies.Dickens who was on guard was worried because he knew almost what was going to happen. This was not the first time they had been out on a mission. He knew so well that his partner was ready to risk the long lonely walk out of the forest just to buy cigarettes and maybe if lucky enough sleep with a woman.
There was nothing he could do to stop him, neither was he going to spy on him at the boss's office. They both had misgivings and knew how to protect each others' name. Just like a mighty prophet, Nelion managed to locate a lodge at the far east end of the forest. He stood up, shook off his sleeping bag and without bidding anyone bye, he walked eastwards of the forest.
Dickens being on guard he could do absolutely nothing. Little did he know that,it was the last time he saw him alive. The prisoner looked at Dickens as if wanting to tell him something but, their ethnicity became a barrier so he ended up sighing and keeping quiet.
As night tickled away Nelion kept walking eastwards without caring to know what awaited him. He was already far away from the crew and deep into the forest. He kept convincing himself of the good time he was going to have once he arrived at the lodge and this made him walk faster.
Thorns were now and again piercing his skin and at one point even teared his combat jacket but he was not willing to allow his cowardice side rule him. He managed to get out on the east end at around midnight. He didn't know whether to turn right or left so as to find the lodge as it had little information on the map.
He decided to take the left road and within few minutes he was standing infront of a newly built giant building. He assumed this was the lodge he had come to look for so he advanced deep inside. The waiters had retired to bed and only a night guard was awake. He inquired and the man alerted his fellows who in turn woke up the night waiters to serve him beer and anyone that was willing to earn an extra coin was to grace his bed.
A plump but well statued woman served him, he immediately chose her to grace his bed. The woman readily agreed and as soon as he finished eating and drinking they went upstairs. Nelion wasn't alarmed, but the looks of everyone here became strange. They suddenly turned out to half human half fish,
He remembered the story of Aladdin and his lamp and smiled as he thought he was going mad. This things were always perceived as fiction and even the author's of such works never believed in them. Here seemed to be a no human territory, he knew instantly that his greed had led him astray but he had no remedy for it. There was nothing he could do to make things return normal. So he sat on his bed and waited for the worst.
Back at the clearing everyone was startled and they sat up. Something wrong was going to happen. But how could they know where Nelion went and which direction he took.? After brainstorming they chose to ignore the search and atleast grab some sleep before dawn.
Dickens was scared to the bones. He wanted to even go alone,How comes his boss could manage to know that his partner was missing.? This made him even more afraid and he chose to walk east too. He didn't walk far before he fell into a hunting trap that was set to capture stray antelopes.
With his one leg on the air and the other dangling helplessly he yelled for help and his team arrived just on time . He was shy and apologized for his mistakes before choosing not to follow his stray counterpart.
Nelion looked at the beautiful woman that served his food few minutes ago was standing few metres from where he sat, in hand she carried a sword and her fishlike tail kept wagging,Death was looming and he knew he had no chance to live again. His end had come. The woman raised his head and holding the sword with the other hand, she chopped off his head and laughing rigorously she suck and licked all blood from his corpse.
At dawn The Prisoner was willing to speak and he narated to them that on the far east there was a dangerous lodge where mermaids were reared and the hotel owner, used to serve them with human flesh. He warned them against going there as they weren't powerful enough to tackle mermaids. They knew instantly that Nelion was dead and his body must have been feasted on by mermaids that ate human flesh like vampires.
They also asked the man what he knew about a young girl that disappeared. He gladly smiled and with his half Italian, half Kikuyu accent he narrated to them about a girl who was brought up into a tent at the clearing and had stayed in the forest for quite some time but the girl had later been left alone and managed to escape from her tormentors. He said he had watched all these from the top of his tree. What he was even more precise on was she did not head east. They looked at each other and with unison they allowed him to leave. He looked at them and instead he told them not to let him die in this forest as he had also been kidnapped and he managed to escape from the deadly mermaid cum vampire farm.
