luke planned this whole date thing the same night, and phoenix thought he was an idiot. why not schedule it for tomorrow, or maybe a saturday? it seemed like a smarter decision.
he had left her place around three, and told her that he'd be back by eight to pick her up. phoenix would drive herself, but luke insisted on driving both of them to the date destination. he was one of those guys that loved to see the expression on the other person's face when he showed them where they were going. phoenix luckily adored surprises, unlike most girls, so she was very excited.
it was currently five o'clock - because phoenix spent two hours watching her cartoons after he left - and she realized that it'd be a smart thing to do if she made an effort to look nice. luke informed her to dress normally, which was way more difficult than she assumed.
she had went through cardigans, shorts, beanies, and even a pair of vibrant leggings that looked like a highlighter. it was like she didn't like any of her clothing, and nothing would seem to work. she was stuck.
currently, she was wearing a tight fitted white shirt, that was mildly cropped and ended just below her bellybutton. it was the only top she didn't despise at the moment, so she thought, hey? why not put this on?
along with her top, she had a pair of loose, black, silky shorts, that were flowy and comfortable enough to be considered casual. she had her long, brown hair in a wavy - slightly messy - ponytail, and her shoes were her beloved white hightops, which she had managed to keep clean ever since they were purchased.
it took her a unnecessary two hours to complete her look, which only gave her an hour to spare. the only thing she could think of was to watch more cartoon network, but she hated all the new shows, which were playing as of now.
she didn't like many other channels, so she powered off her television. she grabbed her phone off the charger in her bedroom, walking over into the living room once again. she kind of hoped luke would be early, because her boredom was intensifying by the second.
around fifty minutes of scrolling through social media passed by, and she saw a familiar profile squished against her window. his hands were pressed against the glass, and his nose and mouth looked deformed. the fact that he still looked appealing even with a smashed face was beyond phoenix.
she giggled over to the window, unlocking her door to find him just as he was last time; standing right on the welcome mat as if nothing ever happened.
he smiled. "i'm ten minutes early, i know, but i'm really excited."
"why? are we doing something extra spontaneous?" she replied, suddenly letting her insecurities get the best of her. she hated how absolutely flawless luke looked. he was effortlessly beautiful.
"we just might be," he grinned, looking into her dark eyes for a brief moment. "shall we go?"
she playfully laughed, unhanging her acid washed shoulder bag from a dining chair. "we shall."
"oh, are you allergic to grass or flowers or dust?" luke inquired, walking alongside phoenix towards his vehicle.
"uh, no?" she chuckled, sending a confused glance luke's way.
"cool,"
"great, now the surprise is ruined!" phoenix groaned.
"what?" luke questioned, becoming curious of her actions.
"i'm not stupid. you asked me if i was allergic to grass and whatnot, so that obviously means that you're trying to see if it's okay to take me to a grassy, flowery place. thanks luke, little did you know i actually like surprises." she pouted.
