the joy phoenix felt from absolutely defeating luke was indescribable. luke was noticably upset about this, and he even stated that he was just "out of it" tonight, and that if he had not been, he would of totally been the king of the ridiculous dance game."seriously, i just let you win." luke shook his head.
phoenix slightly dropped her jaw. "are you kidding? did you even glance at my dance moves? i was awesome, don't be so jealous."
he was completely aware she was better than him at dancing, but he refused to admit it. he knew from the beginning that he was destined to complete failure, for his body was noodle-like and he undoubtedly sucked at any type of physical activity.
"yeah yeah, arizona." he sniggered. "does this mean i buy you that corndog now?"
"that was the deal, wasn't it?"
luke threw his head back with a loud "ugh!" while continuing with noises of false crying. "unfortunately yes, that was the deal,"
"well, where in sacramento can you get a big ol' corndog?"
luke thought for just a moment, until he had her hand in his, and he was practically dragging her down the sidewalk.
"so, you never said you were the only one who could get a corndog did you?" luke inferred, sneaking a glance at phoenix and her big, beautiful, yet shocked pair of eyes.
"you can't get one! i'm the winner, i get the reward!" she exclaimed, stomping her small foot on the concrete.
"baby," he simply spoke. "these corndogs are the best in cali as far as i know. please let me get one."
phoenix could not resist even if she tried. the sweet, angelic sound of the word "baby" coming from his lips had her weak at the knees and entirely nervous.
"i.." she started. "i'll allow it."
he grinned the widest grin, and if you couldn't already guess, phoenix was again weak at the knees.
"that's my girl!"
her heartbeat accelerated, and she truthfully did not know if it was because of the remembrance of luke's voice when he called her "baby", or because of the excessively decorated corndog sign ahead of her.
she could smell it. the aroma of the greasy hotdog on a stick had her tugging on luke's sleeve and licking her lips.
they approached the shack-looking building, which was located fairly close to phoenix's apartment complex.
"luke, when i said jumbo, i didn't mean the size of, like, our solar system." she exaggerated, scanning the menu at the various sizes, flavors, and combos.
"go big or go home." he winked, placing his hand on her lower back and guiding her closer to the register.
phoenix blushed at his slight touch, attempting to ignore the abundance of energetic butterflies in her stomach.
"so, tall man, what would you reccomend?"
"well," he began. "i always get a slushie, but the blue one. and then tater tots and then, like, a medium sized corndog."
"then double that order and lets get home and eat it." she said with obvious exitement in her voice, which luke couldn't admire more.
it took quite a chunk of time actually receiving their food, for the place was such an attraction to the public. how could it not be? americans love greasy, unhealthy food.
phoenix couldn't help but pop a few tater tots in her mouth on the walk home, in which luke raised a brow at and giggled. he thought she was the epitome of perfection, even with crumbs on her lips and grease on her fingers.
"hey luke?" phoenix murmured as she continued to chomp on her cylinder shaped potatoes.
"yes?"
"wanna maybe, like," she swallowed. "maybe sleep over again?"
before he could answer, she began to ramble.
"i mean, if not, that's fine. is it weird? i'm sorry. i thought it'd be a good idea, you know? but i completely understand-"
"arizona!" he nudged her shoulder with his own, "of course. i'd love to."
"really?" phoenix didn't expect luke to love staying at her place. she had not a clue why she was so nervous either.
"yes, you dork. now pick up your pace so we can get home and eat these big ass corndogs."
