"Keefe!" Tam said loudly. "I literally baked these cookies today and they're already gone!"
"So?" Keefe said, looking at Tam with innocent eyes.
Tam raised an eyebrow. "What do you have to say for yourself? What's your cover story?"
"You sound like Foster." Keefe smirked. "And I don't have a cover story."
"Really?"
"Yes, Bangs Boy. Isn't that what I said?" Keefe still loved to call Tam 'Bangs Boy', a remnant of a different time.
Tam, however, didn't think very fondly of the nickname. "Don't call me that, Keefe!"
"Why not?"
"Because," Tam sighed. "It reminds me of... different times."
"Ah, nostalgia..." Keefe said over-dramatically.
"It's not nostalgia." Tam flopped onto the couch. "Remember when we were sixteen? We... hated each other."
"Yeah." Keefe sat down next to Tam.
"It's not really something I want to be reminded of all the time." Tam said quietly.
"I guess not... Tammy Boy." Keefe grinned, going from serious to joking in a second.
"Stop it." Tam growled. "I mean it, Sencen."
"The ironic thing about that statement is that you could be talking to me, or yourself." Keefe said.
"You didn't need to point that out." Tam said with a hint of humor in his voice.
"I really did, though."
"Whatever. The point is that you ate my cookies."
"Taaaaam! The point of cookies is to eat them."
"Okay, okay. I'm not mad at you."
"Good." Keefe stretched out on the couch and put his head in Tam's lap.
Tam ran his fingers through Keefe's hair, messing it up. But Keefe didn't care. Life felt calm and good for the moment.
