Your eyes fluttered open to a cold room, the sunlight spilling gently from behind the curtains. You felt the warmth hit your chilly skin and a smile stretched across your face, perfect. This, this was what brought you happiness. You didn't know where you were but that didn't matter, the sun was by your side. Your eyes traveled to the door as it unlocked and two people stepped in, what you could only assume was a couple. There was a blonde, well built and attractive. A girl with black twin drills stood clinging onto his arm with a smile, eyes burning into yours awkwardly.
"Y/n, you're awake." The blonde said steadily, his eyes tracing your features. You felt uncomfortable with him looking you over like that. He had a girlfriend, why was he basically checking you out? Oh, that's right. You're in a hospital bed, he's either family or a friend and he's most likely worried.
"Yeah, I'm sorry do I know you?" You cocked your head to the side in confusion. You didn't recognize him, why?
"You did shitty extra, you were a childhood...annoyance." He was saying all this while you were in a hospital bed, real mature. He, however, didnt sound like he was insulting you. It was more like some sort of playful teasing? You weren't really sure. He could be insulting you but you're much too dizzy right now to process it correctly.
"Oh, okay well-"
"Stop. I just came here to say thanks or whatever. You set me up with Maria. When you get out of the fucking hospital, call me." He was about to step out of the room, 'Maria' in tow.
"But I don't even remember your name!"
"...Kacchan. It was Kacchan to you." He disappeared after that, he didn't visit while you recovered either. It wasn't until you got out of the hospital three weeks later when you realized something was off. You knew you had Hanahaki, you knew that's why you couldn't remember Bakugou. That's not why something was off, it was that you oddly felt...free. As if some sort of chain had snapped, a weight lifted off your shoulders if you will. Was this what it felt like to be free of a one-sided love? It was refreshing, like opening your eyes for the first time. You smiled as you headed home, you decided to text him when you need him. It turns out you never needed him, you just texted when you felt like it. The first time you saw him in person was a year later, you passed by on the street. There he was, hand and hand with Maria. A weird smile on his face but his eyes were soft, rings adorned their hands. It was a bit odd to see him smiling now that you know he doesn't really do that, but you waved when you made eye contact and continued on your way to work.
