I used to lie awake in bed,
wondering what it's like to be loved...
now I lie sound asleep in your arms,
knowing and craving that wonderful feeling.
You hold me gently,
knowing the hands that came before you
weren't always so nice...
and when I shake from the anxiety
that overwhelms and invaded my dreams....
you sooth me,
running your strong hands
up and down my back.
I've spent my life
watching everyone I've ever loved leave,
but you wouldn't dare leave my side.
I've spent my life
experiencing everyone I've ever loved hurt me,
but I know you'll never lay a hand on me.
I've spent my life
with the most tainted image of love imaginable,
but that never scared you,
you never gave up on me....
I never thought I'd fall in love,
I never thought I'd have a family,
a future,
a husband,
a soulmate,
a lifetime full of love,
but here you are,
and it's everything I ever could've asked for.
