Rebecca craned her neck her bones cracking in the process. This was a reminder she needed to get the weekend off for a massage and a beautiful spa day. The last weeks had been hectic enough. She needed the weekend to rest.

She halted her car infront of her favorite coffee shop. Grind House. It was a local coffee shop known for its best flavors of coffee. Rebecca yearned for a rush of caffeine just before she called it a day.

"Hey." Jonah, one of the workers greeted.
"How are you doing today?" she smiled.
"Better now that you are here." Rebecca grinned at his attempt to flirt.

"I couldn't agree more. Now I would kill for your coffee Jonah." Rebecca ordered.
"Right away."

Jonah was a Mathenatics and Statics' student at college. The many times that Rebecca had frequented the shop, she had become mutually acquainted with the boy. He was driven and a hard worker just like she was back in college. Jonah reminded her so much of her old days.

"Thanks." Rebecca beamed when  Jonah set down her coffee. Classic latte. Perfect for a Friday evening.

Half way through her coffee, Rebecca felt a light tap on her shoulder. If only she could believe her eyes. Right in front of her stood Adrian Kane smiling down at her.

"Hey." His deep velvety voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Hey." She didn't mean for her words to come out breathy but did they. She was surprised, that's all she could say.

"What are you doing here?" she rose a brow. Adrian's smile widened.
"Coffee." he replied in a duh tone. Shit! What was she even thinking asking such a silly question? It was a coffee shop for Pete's sake. What did people do there? She resisted the urge to smack her brain.

"Do you mind if I join you?" he asked politely. Yes. She couldn't say it aloud. She didn't dine with clients except when they were having a meeting. She had no meeting with Adrian but it would also be rude to decline his offer.

"No. The seat is all yours to take." Rebecca forced a smile on her lips.
He looked strikingly handsome in a pair of dark blue jeans and a plain white V-neck shirt coupled with a beige blazer. Something not too casual yet not so professional.

Adrian ordered for a flat white when Jonah came to take his order.
"What you did today in the board room today was exquisite." Adrian broke the akward silence.
"Thanks."

"Everyone loved it. My dad couldn't stop talking about the proposal." he continued.
"I spent a lot of time on it trying to impress him. I guess I can say it worked." she shrugged nonchalantly.
"Yes."

Jonah returned back with the coffee.
"It is good." Adrian murmured after a sip.
"It is." Rebecca replied lowly.
"Do you come here more often?" he asked. Rebecca threw him a look.

"I don't mean to be evasive or anything. This place was recommended so many times while I was searching." Adrian elaborated.

"It is a cozy place. It is hard not to like plus the coffee is great." Rebecca told.
"That didn't answer my question though Rebecca." Adrian stared at her with a suggestive brow. Rebecca. He called her Rebecca not Ms Watson which was a first. It is the way he said it that caught her offguard.

Why was he being so persistent?
"Yes. I do come here oftenly Mr. Kane." she replied.
"Call me Adrian. I am thirty not ninety. Besides Mr. Kane is my dad." Adrian smiled.

Rebecca nodded. "Does that mean I can call you Rebecca?" he asked. Could he? It would only be fair if they both went with their first names. But the way he said her name, something about it, perhaps his voice fascinated her.

"Yes. I have no problem with that."
"Cool."

"Won't your boyfriend be mad at you when you return home late?" Adrian asked. Rebecca quickly raised her gaze at him. Was this his way of hitting on her? If that was the case, she wasn't going to fall for it. Tabloids wrote and told lies but twenty magazines couldn't say the same wrong thing. His pictures with women were also over the pages. No one could lie about that.

There is always so much to relationships but one with her client, there was no crossing that line. That only meant Adrian was out of luck tonight.

"It is still early." Rebecca sipped her coffee. It was still eight so there was no lie in her words.
"Then you wouldn't mind if I asked you to stay for another cup of coffee, would you?" Adrian stared, his eyes zeroing on hers.

This is when she knew she would have lied.
"Now why would you do that?" Rebecca quirked a brow.
"To spend more time with you."

Rebecca almost spilled her coffee. Was every man this blunt or just him?
"Are you alright?" he asked carefully his gaze intent on her. She felt uneasy under his attention.

This was new. She never quivered, not by any man's gaze but Adrian's, God. It was doing things to her.
"I am fine." Rebecca mumbled.

"I will also have to pass on the offer. I need to get home." She called for Jonah. Passing a few notes to Jonah, Rebecca stood up.

"So fast?" Adrian pointed out.
"Yes. I just remembered I had plans with my boyfriend. So if you will please excuse me."

Rebecca groaned inside. When did she become a bull shitter?
"It would seem more truthful if you looked into my eyes." His declaration forced her gaze to his. She met with his smirk.

Rebecca scowled. "Are you calling me a liar Adrian?" She narrowed her eyes.
"I didn't say nothing like that, now did I?" Adrian muttered.
"All I am saying is that if you had a boyfriend, you would pay close attention to when you have plans and secondly, you wouldn't be drinking coffee alone on a Fridag night. So what do you say Rebecca, who is full of bullshit?"

She glared at his arched dark brow. She could smack the smug look off his face. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction though.
"Have a lovely evening Adrian." She turned on her heels.

"Tell your boyfriend I said hey." He called after her. She didn't turn back. She didn't need to. She knew the freaking bastard was supposedly mocking her for lying.

She sighed as soon as she met with the chilly air outside. Being in the same space as Adrian was giving her anxiety. Why did she have to lie? Why did he even have to ask? All the thoughts didn't put her mind at ease. She wasn't going to hear the end of it from Adrian for sure.
