While she cleaned up in the kitchen, her mother's sharp voice cut through her ears.

"Rebecca Watson."

She never called her by her full name unless it was serious. Even now at the age of twenty eight, it scared her when her mother used her full name.

Seeing her mother's glare as she stood at the door, she sucked in a breath. Oh shit! She was holding her magazines, the ones about real estate and apartment complexes.

"Do you mind explaining what these are doing in your room?" Kate hissed. She had been in her room that was for sure.
"Mom, have you been checking my things?" Rebecca raised a brow.
"Now don't act smart with me Becca. Answer the question." Kate roared.

Rebecca knew the day would come when she told her but it was too soon. She sighed with defeat shifting on her legs awkwardly.
"I am looking for my own place." she spoke.

"What!" Kate exclaimed.
"Yes mom. Am a grown woman now. It's high time I live my own life and by that I need my own place."
"Is it about what I said the other day?" Kate stared.

"No mom. This would have happened eventually and you know it." Rebecca elaborated. She sighed.
"Have you found a place yet?" Kate asked.
"Not yet. Am meeting with the realtor in a few days." she answered.

"You have made up your mind, haven't you?" Kate looked up at her. Rebecca nodded.

"If that is what you want my dear. I only wish for you to be happy. I am going to miss you though." Kate cooed.
"Mom. I am going to be visiting frequently, I promise." Rebecca hugged her.

The rest of the weekend went on smoothly. She visited the spa, went shopping and spent as much time with her mom. Whike she sipped her coffee watching a show on TV with her mom, her phone dinged.

Strangely, it was an unknown number. The person had only texted her one word.

Hey

Who could be texting her at this time?
Rebecca: Hey. Who is this?

Her phone dinged just before she put it down.Wow so fast.

Unknown number: Adrian

She swore her heart throbbed in her chest. Adrian was the owner of the unknown number. This had to be some sick joke. Excusing herself, Rebecca walked to her room. What was Adrian implying by texting her?

The ringtone of her phone startled her from her thoughts.
"How did you get my number?" Rebecca hissed knowing very well who the person at the end of the line was.
"What happened to hello? That is utterly rude Rebecca." Adrian replied.

"I don't think you called me to teach me etiquette." she stated in a hard tone
"You are right."
"What do you want Adrian?" Rebecca asked keeping her tone neutral despite the thin thread of calmness she was on.

"I was wondering if you would be free to go out on a date with me tomorrow."

He did not just invite her on a date. Either she was losing her mind or Adrian was up to something.
"I don't want to go on a date with you Adrian." she declared.
"Does that still mean you are busy tomorrow evening?" he asked.

"Adrian!"
"Just one date Rebecca. You go on this date with me and I promise I won't bother you again if you don't like it." His voice sounded so earnest she almost gave in. Not he was Adrian Kane, the playboy. There was no chance in hell she was going to let that slither of defense crumble.

"No." she declared again, voice harsh.

"Does everything about you have to be so hard?" Adrian groaned.
"And do you have to be such a pain Adrian?"
"I told you Adrian. I don't mix business and pleasure. You are my boss and client and I would like for things to stay that way." she reasoned.

"Even if you are attracted to me?" Adrian questioned. She resist the urge to groan. That was besides the point.
"I am not attracted to you Adrian." she admitted. Adrian chuckled at the other side of the line. Rebecca clenched and unclenched her fist.

"You would love me." Adrian said
"You don't take rejection very well, do you Adrian?" she surmised.
"I have never been rejected if that is what you mean."

"There is always a first for everything I guess. Good night Adrian." She hang up.

Sitting down on the bed, Rebecca sighed hard. She was in for trouble with Adrian.

The week had been busy and hectic with reports and files piled up her desk coupled with relentless meetings. It was exhausting sometimes much as Rebecca loved her job.

She had also managed to meet with the realtor Melanie Daenery who had toured her around the apartment. It was nice, cozy and spacious just like she had liked it. They had gone over everything with Melanie and the only thing she was left with was to sign the damn paper work.

When she had told Kate, she was sad that she was leaving so fast but also still supportive of her decisions. Fiona on the other hand talked her ear off about shopping and throwing a house warming. In the end, they had agreed on the house warming party prior to make her stop talking.

While she typed on her computer, she heard a knock. It was only one person who knocked and it had to definitely be Fiona and her office gossip.
"Come in." she said her focus still on the computer screen

When she lifted her eyes to find the person who had just entered, she was stunned. It wasn't Fiona. It was a six foot four tall dark guy with the most intense honey browns dancing in his eyes.

"Adrian." she whispered surprised.

His lips twisted in a simple smile as he stared at her. For the entire week, she hadn't seen Adrian around which was good. He hadn't even called or texted her which might have been better if she hadn't caught herself staring at her phone screen for so long or reading through her old messages from him. Well, he might have gotten her message the other day loud and clear if he hadn't tried to pursue her again.

The only thing she had gotten to know the past few days about Adrian was the photo of him and a blonde at the beach circulating over internet. She didn't know he had returned to Atlanta. The man had a reputation to keep for sure. What was he doing here in his office now?

"Happy to see me?"

She wasn't near any scale of happiness. Her glare in his direction told so.

"What gave me away?" Rebecca asked sarcastically.
"The fact that you are not throwing me out, I should be happy." Adrian settled down on the chair opposite hers.
"I am not throwing you out yet. What do you want Adrian? I swear if it is not business related..."

"It is not." Adrian interrupted. She stared unbelievably at him. Her eyes narrowed in disbelief.
"The reason am here is not business related." He raised a brow daring her. She was speechless not because of what he had said, she just couldn't believe his nerve.

"Go on a date with me."

"No."

It came out almost immediately. He frowned.
"Why not?" he stared into her eyes. Rebecca scoffed.
"You find me attractive, I find you attractive. Let me just take you on one date and you can judge me later." Adrian persisted.

"I am not asking for your hand in marriage Rebecca. Just dine with me for one night. I will make it worth your while."

The promises placed in his words caused a mild shiver in her body. Adrian couldn't be trusted. She wasn't going to lie to herself and think she was special. She was just like any other of those women he had dated or bedded. Disposable. Why was he persistent on taking her out on a date anyway?

But it was only one night. If this got him off her back, so then be it. She was willing to show him she wasn't as easy as those women he had been with.

"Okay."
"Really?"
"Yes. You said one date. I will go." Adrian's lips curved into a smile.
"Great. I can't wait." he grinned.
"Can't say the same for me."
