I've been running from place to place trying to find somewhere safe where I belong for almost 3 years now.
I've been by myself most of the time and the people I was with in that rare time I wasn't alone died or got separated from me.
My names Addison and I'm in the middle of an apocalypse. I'm doing alright for a 15 year old girl but only because my big brother Daryl taught me how to hunt, shoot a gun, a little bit about his beloved cross bow and how to use a knife while we went on camping and hunting trips with our other brother Merle.
He taught me how to survive and I wouldn't be alive without him now or before the apocalypse.
I was so close with him, I love him so much and I hope he's alive out there.~~
The street was quiet as I walked down it heading to a small supermarket I saw earlier that day that had looked mostly untouched from my current hiding spot in a pharmacy. As I was coming closer to the front door something looked different.. I shook it off and slowly opened the already broken into door expecting there to be a welcoming bell or something to give an alert of me entering the store. There was and I stood with my knife out waiting for any roaming walkers to come forward for a meal they were not going to get.
None came, so I was right someone had broken into here before I had today. Hopefully there not still in here, I put my knife back into the sheath that was clipped onto my ankle and started walking towards the first aisle which was the one closest to me. I opened my first bag when I got to the shelf and started putting packets of dry noodles into it when I felt a cold nozzle of a silencer on the back of my head."Turn around, put your weapons on the ground then place your hands on your head now." A stern voice of a man said from behind me.
I had two options A was to do as he said and have a better chance at staying alive or B attack him, making a run for it and hope for the best.
I turned around taking my bow off my back and placing it on the ground along with my gun. I still have my smaller pistol in the waistband of my jeans if he try's to pull anything.
The man had dark brown hair, a small beard and a lot of trouble in his eyes. Obvious he had been through a lot but who hasn't these days?
He was still holding the gun at my head as I raised my hands above my head."You wouldn't shoot me." I was looking straight into his eyes.
"I will if you try anything stupid... What's your name?" He lowered the gun a little.
"Addison" I wanted to tell him as little information as I could.
"Well Addison, Where's your group?" He eyed me suspiciously.
"I haven't had one for a very long time, now would you mind taking that fucking gun out of my face" I said aggressively and he looked at me thinking I'm rude yet he was the one holding a .44 magnum revolver to my head. He hesitated at first but put his gun back in its holster.
"So you're alone?"
"I just said that didn't I?" I didn't care for small talk. I don't know what this man will do to me or if I can trust him.
"I'm Rick" He held a hand out for me to shake and I took it.
"What are you going to do to me?" I asked, sounding a lot more terrified than I intended. But if you had an abusive father like mine you would understand, also the amount of bad men I have run into since this started is disgraceful. He looked at me like I was a crazy person.
"Nothing bad, I'm not bad like the other people out there I'm sure you have met"
"Well then what's going to happen... are you going to let me grab my weapons and supplies then I'll be on my way? Or do you want to stand here and make small talk all day." He didn't answer my question at first, just sort of looked at me like he was thinking and he had a smirk on his face obviously finding my attitude amusing. I was enjoying being around another person even though it was a strange man and this situation is starting to get awkward.
That's the thing about being alone, you crave even the smallest bit of human interaction no matter how weird or awkward it is.
This conversation has been going for about 5 minutes now and I really want to just get to a safe place before a herd of zombies come through like they always do."Do you want to join our group since you're alone? Judging by the weapons you carry it looks like you're a skilled fighter and we could use that" He stated waiting for an answer.
Another group that's probably going to end up like the other ones? I'll pass."Dad are you ready to leave?" I heard from the end of the aisle, when a boy my age walked around the corner and stopped when he saw me.
He had a sheriffs hat on covering his black hair and a blue jacket flannel on that matched his beautiful bright blue eyes.
I felt my cheeks heat up when he looked me up and down but kept my composure standing in front of his dad."Who's this?"
"This is Addison, she's alone and I asked her if she wanted to join our group. I haven't asked her the questions yet." He told who I'm assuming is his son.
I was going to say no but this guy has made me want to stay.
Not only because he's cute but because I need to be around people. It's not good for me to live the way I am."What's your questions? I'll stay." Blue eyes smiled at me.
"How many walkers have you killed?"
"Lost count a couple months after it started"
"How many people have you killed?"
"3"
"Why?"
"2 of them from my old group asked me to, before they turned."
"And the other person?"
"He tried to rape me" He looked at me with sympathy and so did blue eyes.
"Don't feel sorry for me, I put a bullet in his head. I think he got off too easy, I should have let the walkers have their way with him"
"Sounds like she can stay dad" Blue eyes said to his dad.
"Okay, you can join our group, is that all your stuff?" Rick asked.
"No it's all in a pharmacy across the street, I'll go and get it then come back."
"I'll tell the others we're heading home when she gets back" He said more to his son than me as he was walking away.
I smiled at the blue eyed boy as I walked past to get my things. Is this really happening again, do I really have a home again?
