Peep show is a British comedy series of 2 college friends Mark and Jeremy living in a flat in Croyden. Jeremy is a laid back unemployed man living in a room in Marks flat. Mark is a working middle class man who (i think) is neurotic and worries about the littlest of things. These two are polar opposites but are friends.
I'm gonna give a brief summer of the two protagonists of the show and go in to more detail when I get to the section of writing the characters and my opinions on them
Jeremy is a laid back guy who is called a "work-why freeloader" who is described as cowardly, juvenile and arrogant. He considers himself as a talented individual and attractive. He is more confident than the other protagonist Mark.
Mark is an uptight hard working guy who is known as being responsible and bright. But he is socially and s******* awkward which is the polar opposite of his friend Jeremy. He worked as a loan manger but the place shut down and was made redundant. (sorry about the stars. Wattpad have randomly been flagging for shit I haven't done so I'm gonna write stars.)
The humour of the show is quite dark and is written by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong and featuring comedy double act David Mitchell (Mark) and Robert Webb (Jeremy). It's shot like you are looking through the characters eyes and their thoughts are narrated but the characters themselves. So it feels like you're in their shoes. There are also shots where you can be seeing though the eyes of a passer by.
The show is mainly about the failures in the lives of Mark and Jeremy. You can't really do much about their failures all we do is sit and watch their failures. They're in a world they're not that suited for. There are some parts I can't watch because it's so embarrassing and you're in their shoes and it feels like you can feel their embarrassment.
We're not supposed to like the characters. Robert Webb and David Mitchell said it themselves in an interview on the show Lorraine when they spoke about a (possible) remake. We're not supposed to like the characters but you end up liking them because you want some form of luck to hit them or some success to happen to these characters.
I can say that I do like both these characters a lot. They're like an old married couple when you watch. Like a really weird married couple. They can't function without each other.
The protagonists are like if you took a person and you took their two sides. The laid back and social and the other side, worry some and socially awkward and made them into two separate people. It's like the two can't function without each other.
You can see all the episodes and on all 4 and Netflix.
I would highly recommend you watch it. I lose myself in the show. I felt sucked in and I didn't watch anything else til I finished it. I'm a really big fan of the show.
