"Bye Sam" I said to my roommate and she waved to me from the sofa in our small apartment we rented together

"You look very fancy, what's the occasion?"

"New boss" I said and gathered my things before petting the cat to say goodbye to him

"Oh, I see. Don't piss this one off" she laughed

"Enjoy your day off. I hope it goes well with your date" I said

"I hope you don't get fired" she joked and I rolled my eyes and left. I put my hat on and got the subway to work, so I was there in just twenty minutes. I sat down at my desk and went on my Twitter until the new boss got in, as an assistant all I did was take phone calls and go get lunch and coffee, so my day wasn't too productive on the whole. My desk was in a small waiting room with a glass wall that looked out onto the office and another glass wall that looked into the boss's office. He left because he had an offer for a higher paying job in another company, so I'd been without a boss for two months and I'd been getting paid to listen to music and go through my social media 8 hours a day.

The glass door slowly opened and I stood up quickly, but when I looked up it was just a guy who worked in the office called Max. "Oh. Hey Max" I smiled

"Hey" he said and sat down on one of the sofas "what're you doing tonight?"

"Oh, I was actually gonna go out with my friends"

"Still enjoying 21?" He asked to try to make it less awkward

"Yeah, that's what I'm doing tonight actually" I nodded

"That's dangerous, with the new boss and all. We don't know what she's like. Don't tell anyone, but I heard she was really strict and she's fired 20 people in her last place"

"That's probably just gossip"

"No, I know a guy. He's called Trevor Carmichael. Apparently she's from California, and she never lets you stop working but she's cool if you do what she wants"

"The new boss is a woman?"

"Yeah" he said "name's Kendall Jenner, she's more of a man than all of the bosses in the company. That's probably that's how she got so rich"

"Sounds cool. I'm gonna get back to my work now, thanks for coming in Max"

"I actually came here to ask you to ask when she'd be here" he said

"Oh. I'll call downstairs" I said and pressed a button on my phone that called the front desk

"Hello, this is Rebecca from JTR marketing speaking, how can I help you today?"

"Hey, it's y/n from upstairs"

"Oh hello sweetie, would you like to come down for some biscuits? Monica brought some in from her husband's birthday dinner, they're fantastic. Buttermilk and coconut, delicious" she said

"No thanks Rebecca" I laughed

"What's the situation then, my lovely?"

"I was wondering when the new boss for the PR would be coming up? It's 9 and we're all getting a little worried"

"Oh. She's just with some senior members of staff in the design department, she should be up there soon. Maybe twenty minutes?"

"Thank you, talk to you soon" I said and put the phone down with a click "she'll be here in twenty minutes"

"You look very nice today y/n" Max said

"Thank you. I don't want her to think I'm a slob until at least next month" I said
