Choosing Teams

After breakfast - if you could even call it that - Grace and everyone else were lead back onto the platform that they had come to on their first day at the plant. They all took their seats, but they noticed that there were also twelve seats in front of them, in sets of 6. The children sat waiting expectantly for something to happen. The curtain on their stage opened and they saw that once again there was a very large crowd in front of them. "Welcome all." the voice was coming from no where and everywhere at once. "Welcome all," it repeated itself then continued, "to the 3rd annual Games!" The crowd cheered with a deafening boom, and Grace felt a sense or foreboding. "Your votes have been considered and the groups have been made they are as follows; The Red Team  is Kennady, Lexi, Drew, Austin, and Sadie. Ben was supposed to be part of the group, but he died." More raucous cheering from the crowd. What kind of sick people are these? thought Grace to herself. "That leaves Jaden, Whitney, Grace, Dylan, Adam, and Ally on The Blue Team. Please come find your seats."

The kids looked and they saw that the seats did in fact have colored ribbons tied around them, for blue and red. Once everyone had found their seats, the mysterious voice sounded up again. "We now bring out the trainers for these students. You all know that each team gets one trainer, and here they are. For the red team, we have Sindred Allsworthy!" A tall, muscled man with shortly cut black hair stepped out from the shadows beyond the stage. The crowd cheered as he waved at them with a smug smile on his face. "And for the blue team, we have returning champion Kassendra Jondleberry." A short, but fierce-looking woman stepped onto the stage from the side opposite Sindred. Her long blonde hair was braided down her back, and she looked like she could kill anyone in the room with her bare hands. Upon more thought, Grace figured she probably could.

The crowd was silent. No whooping and cheering, just everyone holding their breaths. "You may now follow your trainers and begin your sessions. Good luck."
