"Shit, shit, shit!" You repeated to yourself frantically before rushing towards the made-up infirmary uninvited.

The night couldn't have gotten any worse. Of course, the pillars keep dropping like flies whilst fighting Kibutsuji's Upper Moon Kizuki associates. And none of you have fought Kibutsuji himself.

As a Hashira, you were on the battlefield. You faced Upper Moon Two, losing your companion on the way. That shattered your mentality to pieces.

However, once you received news of a critically injured Tomioka Giyū, your mind switched elsewhere. Some of your companions knew your intentions, and they said they could take care of hunting down Kibutsuji in your quick absence.

'Please stay alive. Please don't be dead. Please be conscious.' You thought as you were approaching a door with a cloth of an eye pinned to the front. You presumed it was a spell of some sort.

You opened the door, seeing many injured Demon Slayers being treated by volunteers, mainly Kakushi members. You noticed some Butterfly Estate girls attending to wounds as well.

"Ah, (L/N)-san! Please, come through. He's over here." A Kakushi woman gestured you over to another room inside the infinity fortress.

There he was. A deeply wounded Giyū Tomioka, unconscious.

And shirtless.

You dismissed the thought immediately, mentally slapping yourself. However, everyone knew the way you felt about him. People would tease you frequently about your feelings toward the Water Hashira. He was so dense that you firmly believed that he didn't want anything to do with you except have a friendship, more or less.

"I'll leave you two be. Don't worry, (L/N)-san, he'll live. Thanks to these allied demons and Lady Kocho's medicines." The woman commented before shutting the door behind her gently.

You looked around. It was a small room, with nothing but a bed and a desk with a fire-lit lamp. You observed the man's breathing intensely, noting when his chest would rise and when it would fall. You kneeled down, running your hands through your (H/C) locks stressfully.

You couldn't help yourself but trace your fingers lightly down his bare arms with bandages wrapped tightly around them. You observed his jawline, brushing his hair out of his face with a light stroke of the back of your hand.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, Tomioka-san," You sighed deeply, before feeling tears fill on the brims of your eyes.

"You were so good to me when we would go on missions together. Always protecting me when my guard was down. Why couldn't I do the same for you?" You whispered as sobs escaped your lips. You held his open hand gently, hoping that you would not disturb him.

You sensed his distress that moment after. He hummed uncomfortably, still unmoving. You quieted down before immediately standing up from where you were kneeling. You could tell he was in pain.

Oh, how you wished to switch spots with him. You hated seeing him like this.

"I'm sorry," You whispered, "If only you knew how many times I'd take a bullet for you. I'll come back as soon as we win."

You turned around, inhaling before taking a few steps away from the man.

A light touch grazed your wrist, as if someone was trying to grab it. You turned around, seeing a conscious Giyū looking back at you. His arm was hanging over the bed, limp.

"Stay." He managed to voice out to you, his tone raspy and somewhat deep.

Your cheeks grew heated as you stared at him. His eyes were glazed but you still felt his consciousness. You knew he was serious.

His breaths were hitched some moments, but Giyū still reached out to you. Your mind was cloudy, so many thoughts spiraling in your brain.

You hiccuped, tears trickling slowly down your red cheeks. You rapidly knelt down and embraced the Water Hashira, light sobs escaping your lips. Giyū hummed after you let go before weakly wiping the tears away from your face with his thumbs.

You cried in gratitude, knowing that the man you so dearly loved and adored was conscious.

"I-I'm sorry Tomioka-san, I can be really emotional. I just thought the man that I lo–" You caught yourself, turning your head to the side, facing the door.

"That you love?" Giyū managed to finish your thought, his voice as soft as a whisper. To your surprise, maybe he wasn't as dense as you thought, even when in critical condition.

"I guess the cat's out of the bag, right?" You smiled timidly, knowing that you screwed up.

Giyū hummed before smiling.

You thought when he smiled was so damn cute.

Your expression dropped after many moments of silence, knowing that it was most likely one-sided feelings.

"You know I love you too, right?" He affirmed you.

"Since when?" Your eyes widened before burying your face in your hands, a blushing mess. You can be really dense sometimes, too.

Giyū managed to chuckle before clutching his arm to his torso, wincing in slight pain.

But he still managed to whisper, "Since the moment I saw you."

Before you knew it, his hand was on top of yours. You smiled, trying to organize in your thoughts about what the man just confessed to you.

"Well," you whispered with the biggest grin on your face, "Once we kick Kibutsuji's ass, I'll stay by your side until the day I die."

"As long as you're mine, you aren't going anywhere." He replied before closing his eyes and succumbing to a light slumber.
