It was no surprise how head-over-heels you were for Tokitou Muichiro from the moment you saw him.

Of course, you two were childhood friends, along with his brother, Yuichiro. The three of you were like three peas in a pod. Your friendship with the twins could not be broken.

Everyday during your childhood, you would visit the twins in the woods nearby both of your homes. The three of you would play around, giggle, tease, and play fight. It was like euphoria for the three of you, and none of you would have it any other way.

Until one day, the twins stopped showing up in the woods altogether.

It was no surprise how much you were devastated from that day forward. It shattered your mentality, your emotions, your personality. You grew to become cold and unforgiving. The twins were your heart and soul, and you felt as if they broke your friendship after that day. You refused to forgive them.

You joined the Demon Slayer Corps shortly after that day. Once you found out that demons existed, you figured it was a way for you to let out your inner rage. Because fourteen year-olds should be that angry, right?

You quickly climbed your way through the ranks of the Corps before being bestowed benevolently the Hashira title. During your first meeting, you were met with an all-too-familiar face. Face flushed, eyes darting towards the boy, and attention solely on him.

You were a mess.

And Muichiro had no idea who you were.

But, you soon discovered Muichiro's amnesia after that day.

You then vowed to make him remember you. From that day forward, you rekindled your friendship with the boy. Even if he would give you a blank stare when you rambled on, you still strived to rebuild what was lost. It was your goal, after all.

And, your cold demeanor was slightly thawing as each moment with Muichiro passed by.

"And so then this demon came up to me, and was like 'A little kid? What a joke!' and then I totally kicked his ass, and it was epic." You pridefully explained to Muichiro, who was staring off into the blue hues of the sky.

The boy simply hummed in response. You sighed, crossing your arms and looking away embarrassingly.

"I'm gonna go on patrol. I'll see you whenever, Tokitou-kun." You reluctantly stated, taking careful steps away from him.

"Yeah, see you...(Y/N)" He replied before mumbling the last part of his thought. You leapt away before you could understand completely.

Even so, you could've sworn he said your name.

It was probably your imagination.

However, one day, you were strolling in the warm sunlight, basking in the glory of the sun's rays and the warmth of the light on your skin.

It was certainly a beautiful day.

You sat down under the shade of a large tree, your back pressing against the trunk. You sat there, your eyes closed, feeling a light breeze against your youthful cheeks.

You sighed in content, before hearing a noise from afar.

You dismissed the sound, concluding that it was most likely your imagination.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" A young voice called out for you. Your eyes shot open and your relaxed frame perked up immediately. Your guard was up.

You were met with the last person you would expect.

The long haired Mist Hashira was running towards you, smiling brightly.

It was the first time you had seen him smile since your childhood.

You tilted your head quizzically before lightly running your fingers through your hair, waiting for the boy to be close enough to you.

He huffed before doubling over, looking up at you.

"Yes?" You questioned, putting your arms behind your back and twiddling with your fingers.

"I remember, (Y/N), I really remember everything." The boy had tears in his eyes.

You had regained your natural glow in that moment. You immediately embraced the boy tightly, wishing you would never let go.

"Oh, Muichiro, you have no idea how long I have waited for you to say that..." You whispered.

The boy nuzzled into your hair, maintaining the right embrace, "I'm so sorry..."

"Don't be. You couldn't control it. Now, tell me why you left me that day." You said softly, feeling tears align the brims of your eyes.

The two of you sat and chatted for a long time under the shadow of the large tree. The both of you caught up on lost time until dusk, enjoying every single moment.

"I feel like...I have liberty, now." Muichiro commented as the sunset expressed beautiful golden hues.

You smiled, looking at the boy warmly. This was the best day of your life. You decided you needed to end it the best way you could.

You leaned in and pecked the boy's cheek before looking away, flustered. You weren't great at this whole 'romantic' thing...

"I'm glad you're back, Tokitou-kun."
