Louis’ POV

I craned my neck to look at a sleeping Harry in the chair next to mine. His face was pale and stained with tears. I’m sure mine was the same, maybe even worse. Zayn wasn’t much better, he was tossing around slightly while he was sleeping in a couple chairs he’d turned to face each other in some sort of make shift bed. Two days… we had two days to find a donor.

After they’d told us Hannah needed a transplant the lot of us had been tested practically right there and then minus Liam and Niall, they’d sort of just disappeared to Brittnee’s room. We were still waiting for the results but the doctors weren’t optimistic… they said the chances were slim of any of us actually being able to donate because of the difference in gender and size.

I took a deep, shaky breath and stood up. My bum hurt from sitting in the chair for such a long period of time, I looked over at Harry once more and managed to chuckle at the thought that he’d be so damn sore when he woke up.

I wandered over to the elevators and pressed the button for Hannah and Brittnee’s floor, it was only a couple minutes of nameless elevator music before the doors opened and I found myself walking towards Hannah’s room.

I heard him before I saw him; Liam was sat outside Hannah’s room sobbing. You could hear the hopelessness and complete desperation in his cries… he sounded broken.

Not even thinking about it I walked over and sat next to him, wrapping my arms around him and pulling him tightly against me. He grabbed hold of my shirt and started crying even harder.

“Lou I can’t lose her…” He managed to breathe out into between his cries.

“You won’t mate; we’ll figure something out yeah? She’s not going anywhere…” I tried to reassure him but I didn’t know if it was true, there’s a good chance it wasn’t… I guess I was just trying to convince him as well as myself.

“But how do you know?” He asked, sniffling quietly.

“I d-” I was cut off by the door opening, the doctor stepped out of the room and smiled sympathetically when his eyes landed on us sat on the ground.

“You can see her now, she’s sleeping at the moment but if she does wake up she’ll be extremely weak. We haven’t had the chance to talk to her about her condition…” Before he’d finished Liam was up and in the room. I nodded thanks to the doctor and followed after Liam slowly.

He was already sat in the chair closest to her bed, holding her small, fragile looking hand against his face. I walked to the other side of the room and sat in the recliner that was placed in the corner, giving Liam some space. He just stared, silent tears rolling down his face.

She looked awful really. Her skin was an eerie shade of yellow, almost translucent looking, there were dark circles under her eyes and her skin was pulled tightly over every bone in her face. “I don’t know if you’re aware but she has a severe case of both anorexia and bulimia.”

“Did you know…?” The words tumbled out of my mouth unconsciously. He didn’t look up, didn’t even blink…just nodded.

“Why did you say anything… to us, to her?” It came out sounding harsher than it had in my head.

“I don’t need this right now Lou.” He croaked out, his voice sounding frail and exhausted.

“And Hannah doesn’t need to be lying in that hospital bed with two failing kidneys.” I spat out.
