I follow Shayne inside and walk next to him.

"So, how long are you visiting your sister?"

"Forever," I laugh. "I actually just moved here yesterday."

"Oh, wow really? What made you decide to move here?"

I recount the story of my firing and the decision to move.

"Hey, I'm sorry they fired you. But I think you'll really like California, from the 2 minutes I've known you," he jokes.

"I think I will too. I'm also glad to get to live with my sister again."

"Yeah, we like having her around here. And speaking of, she should be in the conference room just around the corner."

He was right. I see her peeking out of a room, waiting for me. I see her spot me and walk towards me.

"Sorry, I got distracted. I promise I was going to get you but then you said Shayne found you."

"Sure you were," I say sarcastically with a grin. "What about the 10 minutes before he found me?"

"We were busy!" she laughs, she knows I'm not actually upset.

I turn to Shayne.

"Thank you for helping me out, since someone couldn't be bothered," I grin.

"Not a problem," he smiles. "Hey, I've got some work to do but it was nice meeting you, Ember and I'll see you later, Charleigh!"

We see him disappear around a corner. I turn to look at Charleigh.

"So, what's up? Why did you want me to come here?"

"Long story short, I told Ian and Matt I was putting in my two weeks notice but they want me to stay until after Winter Games was done because they need all hands on deck. I can't, obviously, because I have training for my new job when Winter Games starts in 3 weeks. They don't think they can find a replacement in time so I thought you might want to do it. They want to meet you first but they're on board if you are."

I stare at her. That's a lot of information to process. Char always made working at Smosh sound super fun. The projects they did, the people she worked with, it sounded like a dream job. And I was being offered the chance to be able to work it for a little bit.

"But I don't have experience in this job."

"They know, I've told them. They said they'll walk you through anything you don't know but you're mostly just going to be helping set up and run the games. More or less, helping everything run smoothly. You'd be just fine."

"Yeah, but..."

She cuts me off.

"Ember, c'mon. You know you want to do this! This will be really good for you! You'd get to meet new people and start making money. You can look for a permanent job when you get back but for now, this will be really cool for you. I promise, you'll love it."

"Sure, fine. I'll do it. I guess I don't have anything to lose." I say hesitantly. I usually don't make such quick decisions but lately, that seems like all I've been doing.

"I knew you'd say yes! That's why I made you come here. Lets go tell Ian and Matt!"

She leads me into the conference room. I take a deep breath. I've never felt so excited and nervous at the same time.

a/n: hello! Thank you for reading and voting! This fic is progressing a lot slower than I planned but I like the pace it's at currently. There might be a few time skips coming up though. I also promise this is a Damien fic and he will be in soon! Fair warning, it will be a slowburn. If y'all have any feedback or comments, it would be much appreciated!
